No loss. Food was at best mediocre, and if you weren't a 20 year old stud or had a wad of $100's sticking out of wallet, you weren't going to get helped.

Interesting though so close after Imperial.

Funny cause for years and years, everyone seemed to want it so bad.

Twin Peaks is easily a step above Hooters in every category

For Hooters succeed here, it needs to be right across from Olsen where that McDs is so it gets consistent sporting event business

I said this on other threads. I feel like there are going to be more restaurant closures and other businesses as well. Death by a dozen cuts when you add up:

Increased Taxes
Bad Economy
Medians
Inflation
Low wages locally
Insurance increases

Etc.

Apparently it wasnt just the Bryan location. Saw a report out of Wichita Falls that dozens of locations in Texas have closed.

It had a terrible location on multiple levels. In the evenings, the sun was intense straight into the restaurant. They tried to put up those sun blocking shades, but it was useless.

Whoever decided to put that Hooters there and design it the way they did should be fired.

Property taxes and insurance rates are going to tank lotsa businesses for sure. The tax offices don't seem to give two shi*s.

Any retail or commercial lease that has NNN added to rent is going to have some serious challenges to staying afloat. At the same time though you can't blame those landlords for trying to recoup what the tax offices and insurance companies are squeezing them on.

Did they not do a maroon stripe like what a burger? Orange colors doomed it

It would have done well in their original planned location (Texas Ave) back when everyone wanted it before other better breastaraunts opened.

"The tax offices don't seem to give two shi*s."

You might mean the Texas legislature and comptroller. They are the ones who control the property tax system and who audit the local tax offices … and penalize the local governmental entities if they think the tax office valuations are too low.

Especially when they get around to doing up the Wellborn x Bush intersection like the one at Old Main.

Which is why that McD's moved down to Holleman x Wellborn.

Yep, people don't understand the sun and Texas and the Southwest.

When I was blowing and going in real estate here I would have people move here from living farther north and many said, "I was a house that has a backyard where I can have a patio and outdoor kitchen so that we can sit out doors with our friends and entertain in the evenings and watch the sunset."

I always told them that what you want here is the backyard facing more southward rather than due west where you can get the sunset to the side and not directly into your patio area as you won't be able to sit outside from about May to about October or more.

You left off huge rent increases. I have talked to probably a dozen business owners whose landlord has raised their rents 50% or more. I understand that landlord's costs have also gone up also, but a vacant storefront also doesn't pull in much rental income.

Yep, our first cut to help maintain family budget was remove eating at restaurants. Can't justify the cost for a family.

Same. 100%.

I think ol' Duane and his sky medians and the CS City Council should take note…. Raising taxes yet again was a bad move.

They just closed a bunch nationwide, including the one at Kirby and 59 in Houston.

At what point does the amount of available space begin to put downward pressure on the market? I know that in California, some corporations have defaulted on paying the note on commercial properties in places that are hard hit like San Francisco (where the average person's salary is astronomically higher than here)

Hooters has gone downhill.
Most their employs seem to just sit around on their phones

It was a terrible location as well.

Had lunch at Tanaka Ramen today and there was only one other patron. I suspect they'll be on the "going" list soon.

Wait until next month! Rents go up big time for everyone here. Mine goes up $300 more a month. That's eating out food!

"Fad restaurants" come and go. It's likely that "breastaurants" have hit and passed peak interest. There is a long history of once famous chains that have vanished simply because time and taste have passed them by. Hard for some people to accept that a place has simply lost the appeal it once had. Out with the old, in with the new.

I miss the "OG" Tanaka Ramen. It was a weekly goto for lunch befor then, but they never recovered from COVID in terms of management and staff. I stopped going about a year ago after 3 tries with multiple issues each time (cleanliness/smell, understaffed, out of ingredients).
