What we need is to mature our long term policy goals and objectives.

Debt and taxes are becoming an issue that will continue to put pressure on GOV to either grow REV to keep pace with infrastructure demands or slice spending in other areas to pay for things in cash / both?

We see the issues coming and the only way to prepare for success rather than defend again failure is change the way we view several things. Austin has more than one engine driving growth, unlike here where there is one. Texas A&M.

That is the reality, for good or bad. So let stop trying to act like the way some other city's have and start to act in a way that benefits us.

What vibrant economy and great job opportunities are you talking about, exactly? The "biocorridor" is a bust. FUJIFILM Diosynth just had a layoff. ViaSat had a big layoff too, and aren't keeping up with their end of the tax breaks Heck, even the school districts aren't renewing everybody's contracts, which is a de facto layoff. The "free money" in the economy is still working its way out, and if you have not noticed, there is a high number of restaurants and other companies either failing, or shutting down. From my vantage point, it doesn't look very vibrant. For the most part, the folks that are well off here, are either retired, or work remotely for a firm not in the Brazos Valley.

"Restructuring" is what they called it. It's been all over the news…. some retired and they didn't backfill,

Hey all

Let us stop focusing on the negative and just accept it as reality.

The question isn't how we got here but what is currently happening. Things are not great and the water might get more choppy, for sure. So let us focus on where we are and how best to proceed.

Like looking to find your way outta the woods. We are lost, so the only way out is to figure out where you are and which was is north.

But the real question is: how are we going to adjust and turn things positive.

I said this earlier but

If both optimism and pessimism are self-fulfilling prophecies then I choose the former over the latter everyone. Pessimism never built a home nor put food on the table.

As fellow citizens let us face the facts and start to mature and adjust accordingly for the next 5-10-20 years.

Happy Independence Day … in other words happy "we cause our problems therefore we can make our solution's". Thankfully

That gives me ALOT of hope.

The negative garners focus because the implementers of the negative refuse to acknowledge that they created a problem.

And then double and triple down on it.

Fair point.

But that is why we have elections. We get to choose who holds the "compass". Every 2-4 years (at the city level) folks running for office get to make their case as to why and how we get back to true north.

^ done with that metaphor

And I for one always see that as a positive.

Just sayin'
