Narcan Training and Free Distribution Sat 10am

Getting people aware and also actually getting Narcan will be a good thing. It is not just the hardcore heroin addicts dying from opioid overdoses.
With more and more counterfeit pills coming in it's only a matter of time before we get local students overdosing on fentanyl. Adderall is used a lot on campus especially around finals. Someone may get more than what they bargained for.
Sadly it may become where getting Narcan training is as common as CPR (because it's needed).
Even if you know you aren't ever going to do drugs and have no teenagers or young adults who may face temptation. This will still be a great event to go to so you can learn more about this poison.
If you have a business in areas where there are a lot of pedestrians or seve a lot of customers like retail or a bar /restaurant. This would be good to go to. Having Narcan in your office could save someone's life.
(I have been told don't keep it in your car because the heat will make it go bad.)

My wife and I carry Narcan in our cars just in case we see someone we can help.

I would totally go get one if we weren't going to be in Rosenberg for a tournament. I think this is great they are doing this.
You can buy Narcan at almost any pharmacy for ~$30.
I usually see it for $45 but it's not too bad either way
Yeah, I've seen it from $30-39. We lost our son to an overdose, so I think it is a small price to pay at any price if can help save a life.

We had a good friend who lost a son due to fentanyl overdose. That's awesome.
Which pharmacy?
I know CVS and Walgreens typically have it on the shelf (I've seen it in Houston and BCS).
There is an organization called MCOPE (Montgomery County Overdose Prevention Endeavor) started by four moms who lost sons to opioids, that does an education event each year, where they do education of opioid abuse, mental health resources, recovery resources, etc. They also do Narcan training and pass out Narcan inhalers. It is in mid-August. Check out the MCOPe page on FB for details. We drive up from CS to volunteer each year.

How about a mandatory sentence for those who sell drugs?
There is legislation that I think past that if proven that you sold drugs to someone who died you will be charged with either murder or manslaughter, I can't remember which. I think the first case is on the books.
People OD on prescribed drugs too
NARCAN saved our daughter's life when she was 15. She was actually in a hospital. The doctors unintentionally overdosed her with pain meds. Thankfully just as she slipped into a coma, I realized what was happening. I immediately begged the nurse to get NARCAN. Without it, we would have lost her that day. Overdoses can happen to even the most innocent.

The fact that you could actually think of a solution while your daughter was actively dying in front of you is a miracle. I need to turn over my "World's Best Dad" coffee cup to you.
I hope I never have to find out how I would react in a situation like that. Your daughter (and any other kids if you have them) are extremely blessed to have you. I hope you are in a position to mentor others.
