is there any place in town that I can get 1/8" HSS tool bits locally? I actually use it for hollowing out wood urns on my wood lathe... normally get them from grizzly but like to support local if I can.

Nothing local. Closest supplier of machining supplies is Bass in Houston

Get them on Amazon if this is correct. Save on gas.

Bits is a pretty generic term. Are you looking for drill bits, or more specialized tooling like end mills, inserts for boring bars, or steel blanks for making your own tools?

inserts for boring bars.... basically I get these 1/4 inch square bars then grind an edge on them and put them in a boring bar... then I have a funky boring setup for my wood lathe... google D boring bar for a wood lathe..

This is similar to my setup, but mines MUCH bigger... I can deep hollow 3-4 ft deep pieces...
