At the risk of being that snobby big city guy if someone's had big city persian food Shiraz ain't gonna cut it.
La Botana is the best to me and I've had most of them in town. Bacon, egg, bean and cheese

Juany and Lucy's on Briarcrest. Its in a gas station but it is delicious.

The Bus Barn in Navasota has excellent tacos, Italian was Amico Nave. I'm sure the owners of shipwreck have very good reasons for closing it, but I'd love their bolognese recipe.

for italian- we love Luigis. 1860 is LOUD. We still need to try Casa Mangiare, but hear amazing things. Napa Flats was good, but I wouldn't call it italian (and maybe they are good again, but they hit a rough patch a few years ago). I guess I'd say it's more of a Californian take on Mediterranean food. But they have great gelato

I think it's similar to Bryan food exchange or as some people know it as nuches. Hwy 21 and hwy 6. Maybe not? Just my personal observation
