Howdy, I'm looking for recommendations on a new dentist for my family (adult & teen) on the south side of CS. No special needs, but our old dentist Dr. Black stopped taking A&M's insurance. Any suggestions on someone that's good and on A&M's plan?

Keith Grimm at Eagle River Dental. They're in the Physician's Center though.

Jay Erickson. He recently opened his own practice and he takes A&M insurance.

Doctor Blacks office. All 3 are very good there.

We recently had issues finding a dentist that took our insurance (UHC Dental). Ended up with Dr Shriver at College Station Modern Dentistry for my sons dental emergency. We really like her, the office staff was great, and the pricing was super reasonable (even for those that don't have insurance). Also, if you do end up with a big unexpected bill, they offer 0 interest payment plans.

We also used to see Dr Black.


I'll add that my husband goes to Dr Scasta and really likes him as well. I have no idea on their insurance stuff. My husband sees him for TMJ, so it's never covered by insurance.

i just went to Dr. Hooks today. I have been going there for 5 years and never had a bad experience, and he takes A&M insurance! The dental hygienist, Angela, is great too.

We love Brazos Valley Dental Arts (previously owned by Dr. Erratt who is still around but is now run and owned by Dr. Reeh). We've used them 10+ years. They take TAMU but charge a few additional bucks but it is worth it after a string of bad dental experiences (there's plenty of bad in this town).

I switched from Black to Erickson due to insurance changes. Very happy. Have several friends that use Hooks and been happy for several years there.

Camp and Fuller on Osler Rd in Bryan formerly Bentley & Camp - just moved to a new office, great staff, awesome dentists

Bentley is still practicing at their office in Franklin a day or two a week

Dr Atkins and Atkins near crescent pointe are great people as well

It's through Delta Dental. And honestly, the negotiated rates to be part of their PPO in network is incredibly low. A lot of dental offices have dropped Delta (which is who most employers use for dental).

If you have kids, good luck finding ANY pediatric dental office that takes insurance. We called every pediatric office in town, and despite being listed on our insurances website, they all pretty much no longer take ANY insurance. The fun ones were Safari and Bryan Pediatric Dental. They both said they only take dental insurance if it is through your employer, not if you have purchased your own dental plan. My husband and I are both self-employed. We privately pay for a PPO dental plan. They wouldn't take it because we privately pay for it, and it didn't have an employer on our card.

Brazos Valley Pediatric Dentistry accepted my TAMU insurance the last time we were there (a couple of months ago). We were referred to Light Pediatric Dentistry for a sedation procedure next month and the TAMU insurance was accepted for that appointment (according to the estimate we were given).

Last I heard, Light dropped out of network with most insurances, but would still bill for you.

So I got way more good options here than I expected, now. It's hard to decide how to make a decision. Any suggestions? It's not like I can go interview them all.

One thing that matters to me is whether they are fairly progressive with new technology. Not sure how to judge that without visiting so maybe I'll just have to I stop in.

College Station Modern Dental has same day permanent crowns, intraoral cameras, and I believe they have panoramic xray. They also had a screen attached to the procedure chair and let my kid watch youtube videos while they worked on him. Lol. They also have specialists on staff (periodontist, endodontist, and oral surgeon)

I left CS Modern because their billing process was atrocious. It took months and months to get bills adjusted to the proper amounts and settled. The last straw was a bill that took almost six months to close out, even after talking to staff multiple times and being told "it's fixed," only to have a late payment notice show up a month later. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I switched to Hooks and couldn't be more pleased with my experience.
