How do things look between Austin and College Station? I'm wanting to get back to CS before temps get above freezing and the floodwaters potentially release out of my attic, but want to do so safely. Thinking Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. I have someone that can turn off the water if need be, but currently have everything dripping to prevent freezing in the first place. What says TexAgs?
Tomorrow afternoon should be fine.
It's not Austin, but we drove back from Boerne today without any real issues. 21 was relatively free of ice outside of a patch or two near Caldwell and I was able to go around 70 the whole way

Don't know about the rest of town but Greens Prairie Rd / Castlegate area is very slippery. Lots of people sliding around coming up the hill from Arrington to Castlegate. Be careful out there.

I had to leave house about 1pm and roads were not great but not bad. Just ran to HEB and Roads much much worse and very slick.
Thankfully not ton people out and about .. I'd stay at the house now
Tomorrow morning roads will be bad. Traffic this evening will be less and less and then slush that did melt will refreeze.

That was us last night. Drive in was fine.
Not driving related, but our flight was majorly delayed.
We were supposed to leave at 6:30 am, but there was a line for de-icing so we actually took off at 8:00 am. 1.5 hours on the plane before taking off.
Just walked our dog in the south end of the county.

I was in Jackson, WY a few years ago when a Labor Day snowstorm hit. I-80 in Wyoming was shut down the day before I was to start driving home. It opened the next day and I started home. I was in 4 wheel drive, and likely driving too slow for the folks "used to driving in this", but I did see 6 snow plows in the ditch along I-80. I figured if they can't stay on the road, then my slow speed was the right choice. That was a long day's driving.

Last night I took 6 to 105 because of where my hotel was. All the airports next to hotel were booked. Roads here seem good this morning other than bridges most likely

Walked in and out of HEB with my jacket zipped up, not an issue. I'm alive and well.
Precisely the alarmist posture that's unnecessary. Funny though.
Pulled car out of garage to try to go to work and at least check things out, and the first moment I hit the brakes the car slid . Hit reverse and went back home. Just not worth the risk or hassle

Didn't skid but someone else skid. Just kept it slow and stayed in the tire tracks of those who were out earlier.
Definitely went over some icy spots though.

Just drove around south CS. Still a good bit of ice in areas. Most of the major roadways are clear but still some busy intersections that are holding strong. Would be very easy to get complacent and get humbled.
Friend in Washington state that is a former Texan has been making fun of us for closing schools.

On snow tires, after the snow plows cleared the road and trucks laid down salt to keep ice from forming. Not the same.
Chick-fil-A is closed just FYI I had to look to make sure it wasn't Sunday
