Anyone have home and auto insurance recommendations? Been given the run around from Statefarm and have been disrespected twice from their local adjuster and dealt with the claims supervisor who was not much better.

I'd like to stick with a smaller Texas based agency, but mainly want someone who will help their customers out instead of trying everything they can to avoid approving a claim.

Off my soapbox now, thanks and Gig'em

I priced mine out this year. My focus was on service because I couldn't get a person to respond to emails or calls. My agent with another local insurance broker had changed each of the past three years and I had no relationship with the agents. They made no effort to build a relationship over those three years. I also priced an out of town insurance company with a response over two months coming even with multiple attempts at communication on my part.

Liere Insurance here in town proved to be friendly and, most of all, responsive and prompt. Saved me a bit over $300 this coming year on auto and home. Joseph Bienski was my contact there.

I would also try lance snider at state farm

They have looked at my apartment insurance and have saved me quite a bit of money

And they tell you upfront Insurance is crazy now and they could be in the ball park or they could be to high but I liked worling with them

If I can't find anything else relatively close I may consider it. But the final straw for statefarm for me was how the area adjuster spoke to me and a voicemail he left on my phone. He was disrespectful and his supervisor that came out for a second inspection was talking down to me and my roofer. So I'm pretty upset with them, but we'll see.

I appreciate your input though, thank you!

I've used Brandon Eisenman with Dean & Draper (used to be W.E. Gibson) for almost 20 years. He's been good about shopping around for us and keeping us updated, even if I'm not in the market at the moment. With three teenage drivers, I feel like he's done a great job on saving us money. Super nice guy, can't say enough positive things about them.

Relationships are a thing of the past. You have to shop insurance every year. Look online at GEICO, Costco Ameriprise, Liberty, etc.

It will take a couple of hours, but you can avoid ridiculous hikes or even find a lower price.

I have farmer's and Frank LaBarbera is my agent. I've been with them for almost 30 years.

I had Leire give me a quote a few years ago but they couldn't beat what I was paying.

I thought so, my FIL served in the navy, but my wife looked into them and she said we could only get them if he was using them.

So far from what I've seen they're only about $8 more than I pay now, so they're still an option.

I understand that is enough to piss anybody off and I hope I dont have to make a claim again in along time but I know my insurance quotes on apartments went from 36,000 to 84,000 and State Farm was quite a bit lower and that is only on 80 units

I cannot imagine what the insurance quotes for The Zone , Northpoint or The Cottages

Ohh absolutely, and I'm glad you've had a good experience with them! I don't want my bad experience to make someone completely change their mind on them, just maybe know what to expect if someone does ever need to make a claim lol

Insurance is SO expensive.

We've used Liere for 8-10 years.

They've saved us thousands over USAA, which we used to have.

That's so crazy, I've lived here my whole life and had never heard of them before, but now I've heard so many recommendations.

Mike Kilgore has been my guy since I moved back here. He's awesome. I think primarily does Nationwide but will shop around for you

Our auto insurance went up this last renewal cycle with no tickets or accidents. Talked to our rep at W. E. Gibson and apparently the industry is up as a whole.

Did reach out to Rollo and after shopping around I was told that our current situation is par for the course right now.

Very frustrating to pay thousands of dollars a year for a "just in case" policy and then get questioned for every little thing when you have an incident.

Not to derail, but why do folks want a relationship with their insurance agent? Do you file enough claims year over year to necessitate such a relationship?

You don't form a similar relationship with your electric provider, or water provider, or phone provider. So why with insurance?

I've had the same dude out of College Station for ~15 years and can count on one hand the number of times I've talked to an actual human being in their office (and I've moved several times all over Texas).

I get what you're saying and it makes sense. But it's just something that is lost nowadays. It's good to be able to call someone up and them actually feel like they want to help you out, more or less.

We have four sons, three within a year of each other. When our youngest three turned 16 and got their own vehicles, I found it helpful to have a solid relationship with our agent. He's made it easy to add and remove vehicles, helped us out when our oldest totaled his car (twice) and has gone to bat for us more than once over the years. And that's just car insurance.

Plus, I like him a lot more than I like College Station Utilities.

Also, as someone who works for for a local power provider (I won't say) I do take pride in being as friendly and personable as possible when I come face to face with customers. Once again, it's just a lost art nowadays.

I had USAA for decades. They lost what made them special, the customer service dropped, etc.
We had Liere shop for us and saved us several thousand dollars annually.

I just switched to Liere from Farmers after I got my last auto renewal.

Liere found a good policy that was 47% of what Farmers wanted for similar coverage. Also saved me a little on my home policy.

My wife was hit by someone with State Farm. They have not been easy to deal with and taken a long time to send me information or money. My insurance is through Texas Farm Bureau. My contact is out of Navasota, but I am very happy with them. Rates have gone up over the past couple of years, but that is the market.

When my dad had the auto shop he gave out free bumper stickers that said if you are insured by Allstate or state farm don't hit me.

As a remodeling contractor I deal with companies from time to time on claims. Here are my ranking from best to worst on resolving claims. The last 2 are very difficult to deal with and drag out claims and also send adjusters that write estimates that make zero sense at all. Such as will pay $13.75 to haul demoed drywall from a 12x12 bedroom to the landfill or $18.50 to apply spray can texture to a wall patch when the texture can alone is close to $18.

Farm bureau
Horace Mann
USAA
State Farm
Allstate
Germania
Farmers

Maybe Classic Doug will chime in on the auto side as i have been out of that industry since 1996 but my personal experience on auto claims over 30+ years has always good with State Farm, Farm Bureau and Progressive and bad if they are at fault and have Geico or Allstate.

That's interesting about Germania. My roofer was saying just about any smaller local agency is pretty good because they will actually work for you. He said compared to the huge companies, they take their complaints much more seriously because they can't afford the negative word of mouth to spread. My thing with State Farm (and I'm sure it applies to all of the other big nationwide companies) but they still train their own adjusters and they train them hard to poke holes in your claim where they don't have to pay it. Like with my roof, my roofer and the adjuster and his supervisor were literally arguing about what was a hail strike on the roof. And the supervisor was trying to tell me what they consider and define as a hail strike and it's much more significant then any other company my roofer had ever heard of. But he said they do it because it's "their rule" and it makes it that much harder to argue against it.

My issues with germania and farmer's claims were never on hail damage claims. They were on water damage caused by a roof leak, and on 2 separate pipe busting flooding claims. On hail roof claims germania has never been an issue for me but Farmers has been on multiple cases.

So you were denied a hail claim on your roof ?

What was their reasoning ?
Not enough strikes in a 10x10 ?

How old is the existing roof and when was the hail storm that did this ?

How many of the other neighbors have gotten full roof replacements since March of 2018 ?

Are you in BCS ?

If so the 3 major hail storms we have had since 2018 were

March 2018
August 2020
April of 2021
