Any recommendations of local names that can help with this? Also, those who had them installed, how effective were they in reducing attic temps?

Interested in this. Would like to put in a solar powered gable fan.
Basically not very effective, not cost effective nor are they reliable. Lots of threads on home. Improvement board and the consensus is sufficient soffits and proper ridge vents are the most effective and lowest maintenance.

I have never seen one last over 5 years before burning up.
Have removed many burned up ones and added ridge and or static vents on many homes in BCS.

I'm so old, when I read this title I thought you were referencing those giant fans they used to put in the ceiling. We had one in Houston that would suck the wallpaper off the walls.
