Back in the 60s and 70s we went back and forth between four pastures that were about a half mile apart without any issues.

The Morrill Land-Grant Bill, passed by the U.S. Congress in 1862, granted Texas 180,000 acres of land to establish an agricultural and mechanical college. The offer was accepted in 1866, but again there was a delay. The Legislature finally provided for the establishment of a land-grant college in April 1871. Three commissioners were appointed to locate and build the college within three months an impossible task.
The commissioners were wooed by officials of several communities, including Bryan in Brazos County, Kellum Springs and Piedmont Springs in Grimes County, and Bellville in Austin County. Officials in Bryan successfully courted the commissioners with talk of contributions of $20,000-30,000 if the college located there.
Bryan businessmen aggressively promoted the town through land giveaways. To the Agricultural and Mechanical College, they made a total grant of 2,416 acres.

Regardless of the veracity of the statement, it highlights that they think there isn't anything in Bryan itself to brag about. That's not what they should be emphasizing.
Medians didn't kill the parade, the two cities fighting killed the parade. Why do you think CS is now starting their own.

What a load of crap.
It will be interesting to see which thoroughfare College Station selects as the location for their Christmas parade. If medians exist on the chosen road, it will be a pretty clear indication that political egos got in the way of maintaining a long standing tradition that unified our community. One of the few that remain.
Hmmm. University, Texas, George Bush, Harvey all have medians. Guess it will have to go down wellborn, as long as it doesn't go past 2818.
Honestly, you could have lot 51 and post oak mall be the start/end points. Either direction is fine. Route has lots of parking options. Mall, rudys/empty Ozonas, kohl's Plaza, Jasons deli, city hall, best buy, century square.
More digs. The fact is BCS is one community (albeit two governments), or should I say WE are one community. Only the carpetbaggers tend to make digs at one or the other. Maybe Bryan should just put home of TAMU RELLIS if it irks people. The success of College Station didn't happen without Bryan. It was a train stop at the university.Bucketrunner said:

Yep. It was great that they gave land where A&M was located. Too bad the land was not in Bryan. I have friends that say when they were teenages they used to drive from Bryan to go south to A&M. it was outside of Bryan. Too bad also that the land was not in College Station, 'cause it didnt exist! Give it a rest. Everyone knows that A&M is not in Bryan. Or actually part of it is now. The point is that A&M would not be here were it not for our wise forward-thinking Bryan forefathers. HENCE, I give you, Bryan, Texas "The Birthplace of Aggieland ".

Very strange route. Definitely won't have a "Main Street USA" feel to it.

Come on out to the inaugural College Station Christmas Parade! December 2, 3:30pm starting at Post Oak Mall. The parade will end at Central Park but the event will just be getting started as the Christmas in the Park lighting ceremony will take place afterwards, along with holiday treats and a holiday festival atmosphere for the whole family! Gonna be fun!
