Probably was just easier to go back to the pre-coordinated route they had filed.

Doing weird **** around college station is a pain. Easterwood doesn't have its own approach control so it's Houston center and they're busy enough with Houston and get pretty annoyed when you do weird **** at Easterwood.


I did not know that. I guess the fighters and helos just do what they want but the big planes have to check in with ATC.

But yeah yesterday they were way out west and just didn't get back here in time for the National Anthem as planned. I was tracking them on the ADBSx app so I could be ready to film.

There was an announcement that they would still be flying over, to happen a couple minutes prior to kickoff. Hard to coordinate with the delayed game and the weather and such large aircraft.

I still remember my first semester here, as a grad student in 2011. I lived in Edelweiss, just off Victoria. I knew nothing about pre-game flyovers. (I went to a D-II school as an undergrad).

Flyover for the first game was a B-52. And the flight path went right over my house. LOUD!!!!!

After that, I'd take my boys out to Rock Prairie Elementary before games to watch the flyovers.

Saturday, September 23 vs. Auburn

Saturday's Kyle Field flyover will showcase a single P8-A Poseidon, with Aggie pilot Lt. Chase Reeder '15 as part of the airborne personnel, with Lt. Denver Crudele as copilot and AWO1 Robert Morga as observer.

The crew is from the United States Navy, Air Test and Evaluation Squadron ONE (VX-1 Pioneers) located at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. The P8-A Poseidon's primary role is anti-submarine warfare.

If you're an Association of Former Students donor, you help provide hotel accommodations for pilots and crew as needed for home game flyovers, which are coordinated by the Corps of Cadets.

Saturday, Oct. 7 vs. Alabama

This weekend's home game flyover will feature two F-16 Vipers and two F-35 Lightning IIs from the 56th Fighter Wing out of Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.

The F-16 Viper is a highly maneuverable, compact, multi-role fighter, and the F-35 Lightning II is the U.S. Air Force's latest fifth-generation fighter.

This Saturday's personnel will include:
  • Lt. Col. Ray "BEAST" Naylor
  • Maj. Aaron "Shiv" Johnson
  • Lt. Col. Joshua "Juice" Jones
  • Lt. Col. "Jakal" Rallo and
  • Maj. Jared "Maddog" Marvin

The aircraft will approach from the south at the conclusion of the national anthem.
