1) frozen pineapple juice concentrate - used to get it at H-E-B; haven't seen it recently

2) rye flour

3) frozen pollack filets (that aren't breaded and that don't come from China)

Anyone seen any of these items anywhere or have others to add to the list?

Florida's Natural orange juice at the Tower Point HEB. Have to go to Jones Crossing to get it, and there aren't many variations of pulp and such. I only buy that brand because I know the oranges are grown in the US.

I'm not sure if the sale is still going on, but H-E-B has strip steaks priced at less than $5/lb. I picked up 2 packs of three 1-lb, 1 inch thick steaks for less than $30.

For rye flour you might check out Village Foods or Farm Patch.

Nope, alive and well at the corner of 29th and Broadmoor. Just smaller.

I went to my Austin-area HEB and didn't see any frozen pineapple juice concentrate at HEB, just 80% Hill Country Fare slop.

I'd recommend going to Kroger or something. Maybe even Walmart.

I have found the Tower Point HEB is really the best stocked - for Rye flour be sure to check Bob's Red Mill - sometimes it is on the end of the aisle vs in the flour area.( just checked - says they have it on aisle 6)

I sometimes order my flour from Breadtopia or King Arthur if I can't find it locally.

In the past Sam's had pollack or white fish filets - non breaded - I used to have to make dog food for a daschund with a touchy pancreas.

I don't think they make it any more

- I loved the caf free - diet DP -

now I just drink HEB's non sugared, non caf ,carbonated flavored - not quite the same.

Feed Barn has an excellent steak on Friday's - nothing fancy - smaller portion - great for lunch.

Been eating there for 20 years.

Interwebs says they still make Caffiene free DP.

I want to say I saw it at CVS or Walgreens.

Buy a Traeger. Buy your preferred cut and season to taste. We like ribeye with Heath Riles Garlic Butter or Traeger Blackened. 8 minutes per side on high for medium rare/medium. We stopped going out for steak after getting our Traeger 3+ years ago. The ones we make at home are simply better than any steak we've had in town.

I never go out for steaks either. I do a reverse sear with my pellet grill and cast iron. Problem is finding decent cuts of meat outside of a butcher. I got these at the butcher, but would sure like to find something similar. We shop tower point HEB, but it has been hit and miss for about a month.

Ah ok. Yeah that's a challenge lately. Annoying because my MIL literally lives next door to HEB cattle ranch so I know they have cows. Lol

We've actually had reasonably good luck at Sam's though more with sirloins than ribeye.

Gotta go with Readfields re steaks. Admittedly more expensive but I love the old timey butcher shop vibe, and I appreciate their helpfulness with special orders.

I haven't cooked a ribeye in I can't remember when.

Picanha at HEB or Costco
Flat Iron at HEB
Hangar Steak at Readfield

All half the price per lb of a ribeye. All twice the flavor.

Don't get me wrong. I love a ribeye. But there are tons of steaky steaks at a great value.

And now I have probably caused a run on picanha and hangars.

If you want good beef and don't mind paying for it, field to family is on the east side.

You'll have to drive to Houston to find a butcher who has them, but go get a teres major steak. Best cut on a cow.

Cook it low at 2:50 until it gets to 120. Pull it and rest 10 minutes. Run your trailer up to 500. Seer the crap out of it.

Kroger on RP has everything you're looking for according to the app. I preferred that store over the Tower Point HEB

Sam's or Costco and look for the primal cut for the sirloin or ribeye (boneless prime rib). Buy the cryopack and cut your own steaks. Depending on the time of day, you can probably get the guys there to cut it for you.

5-10 lb primal cut is an investment, but I haven't bought anything at $30/lb yet.

And then, instead of cutting it first, smoke the whole cut to rare-medium rare. Then slice your steaks and give them a good sear.

Trick at Rosenthal is they don't grade, but all priced equivalent of grocery store choice/select. If you know what you are looking for, there are great deals to be had when they cut up some prime beef. Might be hard, because I know some of the animal science profs know when those are hitting the shelves and stock up.

Wow had never heard of Field to Family and their product list is amazing...lots of generally hard to find cuts, and the prices aren't too bad.

Y'all absolutely have to look at Stephen and Bristen wrestlers. I cannot recommend a place better than them to handle your catering job unless you're decided to go with us. They are two of our greatest friends.

Tired of HEB not having meat for sale. Case not stocked. Items from case not packaged and put out in fridge aisle cases next day. You have to specifically ask for something to be cut now it seems. Its like - "HELLO customer would like to purchase goods, why won't you sell me things ?" I thought you sold food - why are you making it so hard for me to buy food ?

HEB Prime Ribeye $21/pound and you have to ask them to do their jobs instead of having precut out for sale.

Costco Prime Ribeye $17/pound and its just stacked ready for sale in the case like this is America or something.

Switched to Costco for as many things as possible. Only going to HEB for things they have that are not at Costco.
