I'm not sure what you want to argue about and I apologize if my response came across as snarky. All I did was give my opinion that starting pay of $52k for 7 1/2 months of work isn't "horrible." People can agree to disagree whether its "horrible" or not. Like I said, my friends that teach at Blinn realize they could make more money other places, but they choose to stay at Blinn.

A couple of your follow up questions seemed rhetorical and the remainder I don't have opinions on without knowing a lot of additional information:

What are you saying exactly? - I'm saying that salary for that schedule isn't "horrible."

Do we want professors to teach at schools or not? - Yes

Are we criticizing the education system in general? - Not that I'm aware of in this thread.

Should professors just have several seasonal jobs? - If they want to. That's their choice.

What about staff positions of similar pay but without the summers off? - What about them?

What would you consider as an acceptable salary in this town? - Acceptable salary for what?

What about with 5, 10, 15, and 20 years experience? - Beats me. Depends on the job.

It just make me laugh when someone posts something on here or anywhere else as if it's fact. Then when they are asked to show proof, they can't. And they always find the same reasons.

"If you want to know, you look it up"
"I don't have time"
"I was exaggerating"
"Anecdote-ish" is a good one that isn't often seen.

Quote:

are you ok? because you seem not ok

And there is always the same reaction. Instead of just admitting they're wrong or made something up, they go after the posters that asked for proof. Sarcasm, passive aggressive insults, deflection, ect....

I simply asked for proof. What I got in return is sarcasm and an attempted insult.

It's so predictable and humerous. HUMOROUS (fixed it for ya)

I guess you missed the clue that I can NOT disclose funding available for a job.

I didn't miss your "clue".

I saw a convenient excuse.

I'm done with the conversation because you can't even provide a single example. The only thing you can do is point out a typo and be sarcastic.

It's pointless.
