Anyone seen this thing? I've taken my son fishing a few times over there lately and there's some kind of huge fish in there. Guy next to us yesterday said he thought it was a five-foot or so gar. Water is murky so I haven't gotten a good look at it but I've seen something huge move against the surface of the water in there.

Anyone else seen what I'm talking about? I'm glad the guy next to us yesterday had seen it because I thought I was going crazy the first time.

without seeing it I would agree with the guy who said it's a gar.

Especially if you've seen it sort of roll over the top of the water. Classic gar move. and yes they can get big and nasty.

The first time i saw it it caught me off guard because it was at the edge of my vision but pretty close to where we were standing on the bank, and as someone who grew up fishing in the hill country I don't think my brain could process it, haha. I was just like "what in the world..."

As a kid I fished there a lot all during the 80's and at one time there was a gator that would hang out on the other pond next to the big one. We never saw it in the big one. Not sure what ever happened to it. There also used to be one in the pond/creek by the brazos center in Bryan. And there was one about 20 years ago on hopes creek where the road makes a 90 out by river run. Not saying this is what is in there now but it is possible.

Could it be a large carp? We fish at a friends lake that has large grass carp and they're a thing to watch. I and my 8 year old son like watching them flop around the shallows.

I haven't been over there except at night for the Christmas lights. Last time I was there during the day it just looked like a mud hole.

I wonder how many invasive are in there from people dumping aquarium fish? Not sure what aquarium fish would get that large.

I haven't had much luck there but saw some people pulling out some decent size catfish yesterday.

I'm a little more familiar with carp and don't think that's what it is. Saw some huge carp over in Somerville though a few weeks back.

Some folks on the Trinity make decent money as guides taking folks to catch those things. If I cared enough I'd try to trap and it release it in the Brazos where it would probably be happier and give some lucky fisherman a thrill.
