Hey - newish to town and saw the carnival set up in front of post oak mall. Anyone have any details on this and how long they are set up for? I have a toddler and wondering if it would be worth it to take her on even some of the smaller rides.

We checked it out last night... but being the weekend, it was so crowded we left... Going in the middle of the week is easier...

I used to take my kids when they were younger to let them ride the 'kiddie' rides. This was over 15 years ago. I now have toddler grandkids and I wouldn't think of taking them. Just too dangerous now.

I was really surprised by the number of people that were there on Saturday when I drove by. I think it speaks to the desire in the community for more activities for the family.

I do hope more things start popping up that are family friendly. There is a decent amount, but with the influx of families starting to settle here, more is definitely needed.

give month, they'll be back, they seems to back an appearance every couple months.

If the city would buy up the entire mall, just think of how big the carney show could be out there

Got grandkids coming to town. What are your concerns?

You mean they might move city council meetings to the parking lot?

This is my experience during the daytime. I would imagine night to be a bit more extreme, but I don't know.

Typically a rough crowd. There was a riot type situation a few years ago. Lots of arrests. It was a story then died out.

I've not seen an issue with the equipment but I don't get on most of the rides at these things anymore. I loved these places as a kid but not anymore. I'm sure they're safe. But honestly, we aren't talking about George Utley operating these things. It's a weird environment for college station.

But my kids insist on going. I'm not going to urge an early fear on them, so I'm rather lenient on what they ride. I keep them away from the crazy stuff though.

Plus, you're not getting out of there for less than a hunny if you're bringing the grand kids lol

Crime. Especially drug deals. The murder of the teen last week started with a drug deal at the carnival.

Took the kids last year. Didn't see anything outwardly dangerous/illegal, but it definitely had a very sketchy vibe.

It's a traveling carnival. Stereotypes sometimes exist for a reason.

I say this as someone who has a distant relative that was a carnie. She got false teeth at a young age due to meth usage ruining her real teeth.

I like my life too much to ride on something that was put together in 30 min to 1 hour or less.

I think in the last month, I saw a story of multiple injuries from an accident at a carnival somewhere else in the USA. There are too many dangers riding those things. I'd pass.

Is the consensus still, Avoid? I guess I'm buying my 5 year old a pony instead! We have over promised - his mom said we could take him.

Take your kids. Go mid day, late afternoon, early evening. Took the kids for years until they outgrew it. It is a fun family thing to do. Yes, late at night unaccompanied teenagers can make it feel sketchy. We never went at 10pm though.

It is easy to go spend a quick hour or two, take the kiddos on a bunch of rides, hop them up on cotton candy, and emphasize to them to do well in school or they'll end up being a carny.

Why don't the carnival come to town during the drought. Them coming to town is guaranteed multi day rain event

Not their fault... lol. They always show up around early tax season when people start getting refunds.

we went to Grand Station instead, had a great time in the arcade. No junk food was consumed and spent about $60 total for the 3 of us.

Is there an entry fee for the carnival? I saw there was a deal for $30 for unlimited rides, but wasn't sure about entry. Do they accept card or should i look to bring cash?

Also, are there rides that are good for younger toddler aged kids besides the ferris wheel?
