My son recently completed the development of an app that allows users to:

- Take advantage of daily/weekly food & drink specials for local businesses
- Use a map to locate your establishment of choice; and
- See where your friends happen to be hanging out in real time

His first test market is College Station and I'm asking those of y'all within 100 miles of College Station to take the app out for a test drive.

The name of the app is "EASY EATS - DEALS & SPECIALS". It's currently available in the iPhone App Store and it will be available soon for the Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel.

For those of you who have time to check it out, please PM me with any suggestions on how the app might be improved and I'll pass it on to my son.

Correct…and the user is able (through their avatar) to see where there friends are in real time…my son is focusing on college towns and highlighting local establishments

You might mention this in the Nerdery if you haven't already.

There is a FB page called BCS Meals and Deals where local places share their specials. It might be a resource of business to contact about listing on his app.

Is there an option to block someone from seeing your location? Just in case you don't want your friends to see where you are hanging out in real time.

Yes !

Outside of the friend tracking, how is this different than Hooked which has worked in BCS (and a lot of other college towns) for nearly 10 years?

Great Question….

Hooked requires the user to have the app in order to obtain the deal. Easy Eats advertises the restaurant deals and specials. Also, Hooked utilizes large chain restaurants (e.g., Subway, Denny's, etc…) whereas Easy Eats is strictly for local restaurants
