Series doesn't have that kind of money. The series could really use a revamping but it is free and quality entertainment for individuals and families alike.

I've often wondered how these are funded.

Our tax dollars go to a lot of nonsense. I'd happily pay a little more to the local coffers if it went towards getting a legitimate Starlight Series.

This is Robert Earl Keen final year of touring. He went to school here. He is playing in Waco but not in BCS. Why didn't the series bring REK in?

Makes absolutely no sense he's not doing a show in CS on the "retirement tour"!!

Sure it does. There's zero local organization around bringing real acts to CS. If I had time and F You money I would start a production company and begin working with local venues all over the area to bring in actual entertainment. This area, especially during the school year with students in town, is ripe for such a variety of musical talent but it's not going to happen unless there's a full group of people committed to it.

100% agree with your take on the local entertainment scene. For a market our size and the student population, it's pretty pathetic!!

My take on REK is that I had hoped his Aggie roots would have brought him back to where it all started, for his "retirement tour". Hell, even make it your last show to keep it "full circle". Anyone in town who could put this together would sell it out in about 10min because of the "nostalgia factor"!

You can still go see the real Journey, Queen not so much.

When did Steve Perry rejoin the band?

These days, Arnel Pineda sounds more like vintage Steve Perry than Steve Perry does.

Looks like he's doing a show in CS on Sept. 2. Doesn't say what venue yet on his website.

Where are they going to hold a dance with Joe King Carrasco and The Crowns? Deware Field House is gone.

Don't know about Joe King, but I'm sure there's a place for Ronnie Milsap's farewell tour.

(I saw Ronnie at least three times at G. Rollie).

September 2nd would be Friday night before the opening game against Sam Houston. Maybe this is "First Yell" and then of course everyone could walk next door to yell practice.

He's doing Helotes the night before, CS the next night, then Helotes again the next 2 nights.....that's a grind for an old man

This season schedule is out.

No infinite Journey for second year in row but a Guns and Roses tribute band this season

No we don't.

I want original music.

Trout Fishing In America
Rick Trevino (aggie)
Max Stalling (aggie)
Roger Creager (aggie)
Granger Smith (aggie) *might not be able to afford him. Idk what he charges today.
Shinyribs
Truth and Salvage Co
1000 Horses
John Conlee
Mark Chesnutt

These are just off the top of my head. I know all of these acts will be in a similar price bracket as these tribute acts they keep bringing in.

Yeah, have a tribute band night, but make it one night. Then bring in real music the rest of the series!

no more tribute bands, especially when the real band still plays and tours. glad to see the others, though. will never forget seeing freakin Bo Diddley there.

I'd go see the Zydeco band. No interest in Tribute bands. I miss the days when they had real bands - we saw Marshall Tucker Band, Eddie Money, Ruthie Foster, Karyn Chavis, Big Otis and many more back then. Eddie Money in 2008 was awesome.

The money to bring in that level of talent must have been needed for something else.

I would like to see Trout again. They are always fun!

My request for Aeromyth was of course in jest. It's such a great tribute band name.

I love tribute bands but also enjoy new music as long as it in my happy zone of hard/classic rock. Controversial I know.
