How's come when you scroll through the MSN slideshow it lists some place in Austin as best in Texas? The linked article does not even mention Hot Dogs etc.

And Wienerschnitzel is the the best anywhere, anyhow, anytime.

Pretty sure Angry Elephant has better hot dogs... it's not even close.

I prefer many other hot dogs in town, including Freddy's, 3rd on Main, Mr. Hamburger's, and Sonic. Seems like I'll have to try Angry Elephant's.

Likely Microsoft (MSN) knows more about hot dogs than we do. Makes sense to me.

Not surprised something related to MSNBC would trumpet this as "news".

I miss James Coney island. Wish it would come back!

If you're in Houston stop in one and let us know what you think. It's not what it was. Coneys are tiny and the flavor is gone. The chili is about all that's worth ordering there any more.

I've heard they've changed a bit. I grew up on those being from Houston! I think I love them more for nostalgia reasons than the actual taste.

Their cheese and chili are straight trash. Terrible.

I still eat there because it's close to my house, but the chili cheese dog at Koppe is better.

Regarding the Hotdogs Etc story on the OP's KBTX link, at 24 seconds in they show a pic of a chili cheese dog. Now I have never been to this place, instead opting for Der Weiner..... down the street. However, it appears they drop a slice of a Kraft single (not real cheese), plop a dog on top, and add about half the chili that should make up anyone's chili dog. They leave about 40% of the bun nekkid.
If I served my family that, I would be run out of the kitchen. Maybe it is tasty and I will most likely try one soon. However, I am not optimistic.

CMac has occasionally trotted out some pretty decent hotdogs. The Chicago-ish one from his current truck was nice but I don't think he's doing them anymore.

He will do them occasionally. BTW, his food truck is temporarily closed until sometime in August. From Facebook: "Thank you all for a great first year!! We're taking a break and getting out of town for a bit and then opening back up in August before we bring out our new menu."

I've never had their hot dogs, but I am a little suprised that they are able to use Foghorn Leghorn and Chickenhawk in their commercials.

That may be the most generic, sad looking chili dog I have ever seen.

That being said, I had somehow never heard of this place and will rectify that real damn fast. I wanna try one so bad now.

The hot dogs at Harvey Washbangers are pretty dang good. 44 Farms dog and a great bun

I miss dogs and suds on University before it was such. A great older couple ran the shack and knew how to steam a bun!

CMac did the chili dogs on Thursdays for awhile after they went off menu. Hopefully they will be back in September!

Wow I sure messed that one up

I grabbed one this morning. Courteous with quick service. I'm not a fan of cheese on my chili dogs but got it anyway. Pretty good but I would give it a 6/10.

Yeah, I don't think that those commercials are technically legal. But I doubt Warner Bros. has had them brought to their attention.
