Not sure what all of that means, but more than $20 for less usage. Ouch.

This post was just a way to vent, and to let you know to watch you bills (not that we can do anything about it though).

Thought I would log in and check ours. Jan 2020 our consumption was 20 ccf and Jan 2021 consumption was 38. We have been doing average billing for years and works out for us as we can set our budget accordingly.

Thanks, yea, it's not so much that the amount of the bill, it's the increase from less than a year ago. I prefer to see how much change month to month the bill is so I can usually see things like this, so I don't do the average billing. This current bill was just higher than I had seen before, so I went to do some digging and found the increased rates.

This charge recovers the actual gas cost paid to suppliers and the transportation charges paid to deliver gas to the company's distribution system. There is no profit added to the gas cost. This amount is multiplied times your usage.

Natural gas prices are much higher than a year ago today. This isn't specific to Atmos.

I also nearly fell over when I got an $80 gas bill. It was our first "real" bill in this house due to an error and credit at the start.
