The problems with bike lanes are the fact that they are not contiguous. You have little sections of roads with bike lanes that suddenly vanish for no discernible reason. The example I see daily is William D Fitch & Pebble Creek have bike lanes but it doesn't cross over Rock Prairie or Hwy 6, they just vanish. Similar problems on Longmire. If they want bike lanes that is fine but make them usable not just brief stretches of roads. The new addition of Lakeview that will run to Rock Prairie will hopefully make the Fitch bike lane somewhat serviceable as far as commuters go.Stupe said:
If you're referring to the jokes about Longmire and Rock Prairie, they did a whole lot more than that.
And, considering the amount of people that are on on bikes in this town, I have no problem with them adding bike lanes to road.
Better there than slowing traffic like that moron that always seems to decide that 8:30 on weekday is a good time to get on his super biker, glow-in-the-dark leotard suit and ride on Wellborn Road.
I've thought about biking to work as I have in the past but distracted driving is such an issue I would worry about some teen driver bumping into me despite the bike lanes on Fitch!
