Koppe Bridge is a great example of a BCS "classic" that was good, until competition finally kicked in, and far better things came here.

Best burgers in town. At the Wellborn location at least.
Grub says hello
Hopdoddy blows Grub away. It was obvious from day 1 that Grub got its concept from Hopdoddy. Grub is ok, but Hopdoddy will be a really nice addition to this town (despite being in an inconvenient location for anyone not already having to deal with the misery that is University drive near the university).FlyRod said:
If you believe that, than Hopdoddy will make you apoplectic when they arrive. If the grease from Koppe doesn't accomplish this first.
Just wondering what exactly makes the Hopdoddy concept obviously the inspiration for Grub vs the zillion other burger places around the country?nought said:Hopdoddy blows Grub away. Maybe, but both places arrived long after there were upscale burger joints elsewhere in the country. It seems just as likely to me that both Hopdoddy and Grub were inspired by Shake Shack, for example. Or burger places that were in the news or on the Food Network, like these celebrity chef places that were covered in 2010, which is around when Hopdoddy opened, complete with boozy milkshakes.nought said:biobioprof said:

Hopdoddy -- been in Austin several years now, burgers with funky names/funky ingredients, milkshakes with a kick (alcohol).
Grub -- opened a few years after Hopdoddy, VERY similar in terms of menu options including the alcohol-in-milkshakes thing, stand in line to order but we'll bring it to you, etc., but nowhere near as good as Hopdoddy.
I mean, Grub could have magically been a big coincidence in terms of being similar to the Hopdoddy concept, or maybe the founders of Grub visited some Hopdoddy-like place far across the country and then came up with the Grub concept, but given Hopdoddy being the closest such place and given the similarities between the two, I'd bet the Grub founders might just have eaten once or more at Hopdoddy's.
Whoa, it might be the first time ever I agreed with Greg D on something! Now you have me questioning myself, dang it!FlyRod said:
Greg D claims Grub "stole" their idea from Hopdoddy. That tells me right there that that ain't the case.
My wife and I love Harvey Washbangers and also Top of the Hill. Different burgers and fries, but both incredibly awesome.armymom said:
Harvey Washbangers is my go to burger place!
Wow, you've eaten every single burger in town? Impressive.Campchulu said:
No burgers stand out in this town.
Same with BBQ - it's all dry, bland and has no flavor.
I haven't tried their burger yet, too many other great things on their menu already!australopithecus robustus said:
I still stand by the burgers at Cafe Eccell. Especially the Texas Ave Old Timey with the Parmesan crisp.
For some of us, nasty and greasy is part of the point of burgers ... and why we don't have them every day.nonag97 said:
Have never understood Koppe Bridge's popularity. They are extremely underwhelming. Nasty greasy burgers and disgusting fries. The best part is you get to sit at tables that haven't been properly cleaned in the better part of a decade. I can rattle off a dozen other places in town I'd rather have a burger.
Had a Wayback double cheeseburger the other day. I used about a dozen napkins while eating it.biobioprof said:For some of us, nasty and greasy is part of the point of burgers ... and why we don't have them every day.nonag97 said:
