So did I just lose listening to the Cowboys on 103.9?

dammit... i had to tune to 1150 this morning on the way in and whatever that national morning show is horrible. then after that it is just about 8 hours of local A&M stuff that just rehashes the same local stuff all day long, except we sometimes get Louie's opinion on some national stuff, but he only says stuff to try to troll fans of teams he doesn't like.
I guess ESPN charges too much for its radio content.
This week is a bye week, but a little bird told me the games will still be aired.leakypipes said:

They used to be. A long time ago. Bryan Broadcasting flipped that station in 2003, it became Candy 95.Scruffy said:
I didn't know that station existed.
Are they local?
Ummm, not sure a complaint works for this. the market is going to determine what is viable here. and apparently there is not a big enough market to support 24 hour ESPN radio shows.... otherwise 103.9 probably would not have changed formats.TXCityGirl said:
This is terrible news. I prefer national sports radio. I would love to know who to send a complaint to here locally.

I'm not a fan of the audio compression used for satellite radio. Sibilants are really annoying to listen to when they've been artifacted by compression. Some stations are better than others, but compared to FM or even AM, satellite has a lot of audio quality issues to address before I will listen to it on a regular basis.
The problem is content. There really aren't any great terrestrial stations around here.Quote:
Sound is so bad that satellite is basically unlistenable for me.

I never understood why we lost our only rock station. I also hate that 99.5 plays the same songs over and over. I can only take so much Aerosmith.

Sounds like someone may....

Of course, I can't figure out why they think we need a 3rd Classic rock station. 99.5 Rock has that covered.. .and 106.9 comes in clear from Houston. Seems like the same bad decision making that Fowl Digits made when opening right between Laynes and Raising Caines.

Idea
KC Wheeler and classics in the morning
Kotter middays with 90's and alternative music
Bring back Dee for afternoon/evening playing a mix of both
Find some syndicated talent for nights and overnights

We need 92.1 KTSR back
Well, if you think about it, two stations with the same format doesn't mean they're perfectly redundant. As I listened in the car at lunch today, I found that I could switch back and forth between the two when a song came on I didn't care for, or one or the other went to commercial. More choice is always good for the consumer, and competition is what drives things to improve. But it is a shame about ESPN, I was really getting to like Dan Le Batard.patrick.redmill said:
Fascinating. I'm surprised ESPN fared so poorly. I would have expected so-so ratings that didn't justify the ESPN license. But 1/2 the audience of Rock 103.9? Geeeez.
Going to be an uphill battle getting 1/3 of the listenership of the flagship classic rock station with no differentiation. Probably should have eaten crow and gone back to the "Rock 103.9" format. I'm expecting a (more subtle) format shift here within a year.
