Where is the best place to find items such as pearl onions, cipollini onions, shallots, etc.? None present at the HEB in Bryan. Limited supply at Kroger on Boonville.

Being new to the area, where is the best places for produce? I've found Farm Patch. What else is out there?

I'll also add where to go for Asian products and Cajun products? Pickings are slim at the HEB and Kroger.

Produce can be tough around here. The HEBs each market to different and varied demographics. I expect Kroger the same.

The Kroger on Rock Prairie has a produce manager who aims to please and will order things in. If there are enough sales he will keep it in stock. He also has a wide variety of produce, especially organic.

The Tower Point, or as I say "Navasota" HEB seems to keep their produce better cleaned up than the CS store on Texas. I've had good luck with both stores ordering my requests.

The Tower Point HEB has had shallots when I needed them. I've never seen cipollini onions in stock in the CS HEBs.

The CS HEBs and the Rock Prairie Kroger have a larger variety of produce in stock versus any of the Bryan stores.

Asian and Cajun products are hard to find. The Tower Point HEB has the largest Asian selection of the major grocery stores. If you want Mexican ingredients, the Bryan HEB and Farm Patch are the best bets.

There's an Asian market next to tractor supply. That's where I go if I need something more unusual than the basics they have at kroger.

I know major grocers will carry frozen pearl onions but I dunno about fresh. I never need them so I don't look for them.

Shallots are common and I would expect all the grocers to carry them, probably even walmart.

I have purchased cipollini onions and shallots at the Rock Prairie Kroger. The Towerpoint HEB always has shallots.

You might try growing them. Onions are among the easiest and most trouble free things I've ever grown. They seem to love it here...you put the little slips in the ground and in a few weeks, onions.

I don't know if you have a garden or space for one but I've grown them in pots too.

I've occasionally seen pearl onions at the Towerpoint HEB and they do always have shallots.

Verify that your grocery store has NOT been shut down by the Health Department for violations. Food safety is #1.

What store are you referring to? It sounds like you know something I don't.

Try Village Foods in Bryan

Probably means the Asian market in south college station. I would avoid anything not processed and in a sealed package from there.

Yea that place is really dirty, and the seafood area smells horribly. But it's the only place I can buy decent potstickers, or rice noodles, or miso paste, etc. Sealed packages yea.
