I expect we'll see some turnover at the top while Abbott implements his polices. It's about time A&M lowered the acceptance percentage, the enrollment and class sizes. It got out of control under Perry and his appointed regents.

Sharp and the current regents are trying to bring us down to their level.
So to say we won't be equal isn't out of the picture.

Geez, are the A&M system schools all that far behind the UT system? Or is Abbott just being a homer? I went to A&M system school and not A&M but I understand people being frustrated with the current admin trying to cram everybody into the 2 flagships. How about the other Universities in the state being invested in and keeping selectivity for the 2 flagships? Why is that such a hard concept to support for some?

Those were his plans in September. Now that he has been elected, let's see how much of this he promotes and how much of it disappears into the land of grandiose political promises.

He's still pushing it hard. He said the same in Houston last week. The below article is from a couple weeks ago.

I think it's great news. Texas A&M needs to model itself after the elite land-grant universities - UC-Berkeley, MIT, Cornell, etc. and not the diploma mill ones in poor states - LSU, Mississippi State, etc. Texas is better than that.
