New owners changed the name effective today

Kudos for the effort, but they need far more than a name change. The lipstick on a pig trick isn't going to change the fact that we have had a horrible Ford dealer for far too long. Several months ago we fell for the "entirely new staff" only to see the same old folks behind the counters and desks back there. We have tried to buy our Fords there for years, always to end up going elsewhere.

they tried giving me 1k for my trade ins when the kbb was well over 6, and they didn't even give me a good deal on the base price.

Hopefully staff is changed. I will be lookin to trade my truck in during the coming months and thought about maybe giving them a chance. The truck I have now was purchased at Covert in Austin due to Varsity not coming down enough in price, but we'll see how it goes this time around

I would recommend Keith Martin (hes internet sales so no enduring long waits and slimy sales pitches) at Gullo ford in Conroe if Varsity does not work with you. Check the online reviews for Gullo, idk what they teach their salesmen but looks like all of them are very easy to work with.

Have been there more times than you could shake a stick at, practically begging to buy local, (I even offered to pay a little more than the lowest bid of other dealers I found), only to give up and buy elsewhere. If you want to see stereo typical slime in sales, you have it here at your doorstep.

Expect to see more consolidation. Berkshire Hathaway is starting to buy up car dealerships.

Yup, low balled me on my trade in and ended up buying a ford out of town

I spent a week and a half trying to buy a truck at Varsity. After the sales man told me I did not want a v8 for the fourth time I gave up. A friend recommend Bill Fick ford in Huntsville. They had the truck I wanted in stock. I called them and we worked out the details on the phone. I told them I would be there at 2o to pick it up and that I was in a hurry. I was on the road back to C.S. by 3:00. Great experience in Huntsville.

That's funny. I gave up too after wanting a V8 in an Explorer. The salesman did everything he could to talk me out of it. I left and bought one from Planet Ford.

Stopped buy their body shop last year for an estimate on two door dings. I walked in on three guys and two women, all employees, sitting in the front drinking coffee. Apparently I interrupted something as they all looked at me liked I had stepped in dog crap and tracked it inside. When I asked about getting an estimate I was told, very rudely, that nobody gets an estimate without an appointment. I mentioned that it would only take a second for someone to look out the door and give me a rough estimate. I guess this angered the older woman behind the desk as she told me "no appointment, no estimate, do you want to make an appointment? I left and through a coworker found Dent Magic in Bryan. Fixed in 1 hour for $80. No appointment needed. Can't say enough good things about that place.

I finally got a fair price after haggling over a trade-in value. The sales manager originally said they couldn't give me more than my pay-off, which was thousands under the BlueBook value. When I asked "why", finished laughing, and getting up to leave, they "reconsidered". Guess the young girl salesperson needed a sale, as I got a better price than any other Ford dealer I contacted. I know I still got screwed, but it was a less screwing than other dealers.

The only way Varsity could do more for their competition would be to offer free shuttle service to the other dealers.

It's been a while since dealing w/ trade ins. I guess it's widespread across dealerships to low-ball people on their trade ins. I remember after cash for clunkers (2009), you could get a fair price for your used car, because supply was low. Now that I look at it, the inventory would increase and the dealer could pick and choose sellers that would open to the low-low purchase of their used vehicle.

On my first visit to Varsity (10+ yrs ago), shopping for a 3/4 ton P/U....me:"I'm shopping for a dark colored extended cab, w/manual transmission, etc"...sales-slime after checking his puter: "I think we have one in stock you may like...", so I follow him out to be shown a WHITE truck with AUTOMATIC tranny.
Bad start to a painful visit.

I want to purchase products and services from companies that offer good service, good pricing and a good product, I do not dissect that company on the basis of ownership or its board members and officers or even make that a basis for choosing. If that were the case I would have few companies to buy from and I would have to move to another country. You may choose companies differently and that's OK.

When i bought my new truck I went to Varsity they wanted to play games and waste time. Check out Ryan Ford in Sealy - i have never recommended a dealer until I met these guys - I'll never buy a car anywhere else. They delivered my truck right to my door too.

My truck was serviced at Varsity about a month ago. The check engine light is back on again as of this weekend. Maybe I give College Station Ford a shot, I don't know -- I'd prefer not to wait 2 days at the shop before it can even be looked at again.
