According to BBB, meter mis-reads are very common. Unfortunately you have to be very persistent and pro-active to get them to fix their own mistake.

You'd think they could have some software checks and balances to flag a variance like the OP had.

To go from about $20-$30 every month for 2-3 years and then suddenly have it jump to 10x the amount, should get flagged and someone at Atmos should get those double-checked, especially on residential homes.

I don't live in BCS. Do they still manually read gas meters? Our gas meters have electronic transmitters. A truck rolls around town and electronically reads the meters as the truck passes by. I'm sure its not fool proof but its seems much more accurate than some myopic half-wit that can't count to 10 trying to read a little dial through a clouded glass window.

September 2 bill brought a real surprise--a $64.15 credit balance! The bill is impossible to interpret! Apparently they made a residential R 021 adjustment for the period 5/23-6/25, but I cannot determine how much that was! I cannot determine the charge for the 6 units used in August! How I wish there were some transparency! But, I'm thankful for the adjustment. By-the-way, I did not make a formal protest!
