I'm on a quest to find the best menudo in town. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I tried Coco Logo on Welsh last week and it was okay. Not the best or worst I've had. I've also been told to try Garpez at the gas station, but they're closed Sundays. I'm also going to try Mi Familia Coco Loco on the feeder by Rock Prairie.

Any other places I should look into? Bonus points for being open on Sunday morning.

Yelp shows several places in BCS when you search for menudo. Adding open now drops the results to zero closer than Houston

You can buy it freshly made to go on Saturdays and Sundays at La Perla meat market on William J Bryan and it's hands down the best in town.

Coco loco in Bryan is very good. It's better on Sundays.

Forgot about Coco Loco in College Station, they also have goo menudos on Saturdays and Sundays

El Sol leaves hominy out of their menudo. Not cool. It's a very good menudo in spite of that, but that's a major lapse.

Leaving hominy out makes it a plus in my book, even if I've never had it...yet. Hominy is like wax.

It's traditional and a nice textural balance to the cow guts. To each their own though. The flavor of El Sol is very good. Prefer Garpez for the balance, and La Carreta for the really hardcore stuff.

But give me a good pozole rojo any day over even the best menudo!

I have never tried it but have heard the Menudo at La Botana is really good. My brother in law says it is the best he has found locally since his Mom took ill and passed away.

I believe nanaof4 just made a boatload of new friends...

The stuff is so easy to make. If you can get past the nasty smell of boiling tripe, the rest is a piece of cake

I've often wondered if menudo is like so many "special foods"...pig's feet, for example, where the folks who created it no longer eat it, but use it as a way to make fun of the "adventurous" souls who do.

Since her passing, I have taken a liking to the menudo at Casa Rod over the menudo at La Botana. While the flavor is good, they at times, leave their pieces too big and don't clean it as much as I would like. By clean, I mean they leave much of the connective fascia attached. I am a big fan of the honey comb type and Casa Rod uses lots of that particular cut. thanks now I am hungry

10lbs of honeycomb tripe, 1huge can of white hominy, 3 pigs feet cut up and 1 1/2 container of gebhardts menudo mix. Simple and better than Casa Rod, El Sol, L Botana, Mi Familia, Mi Pueblito, etc, etc!
