How long do you want to ignore this user?
I NEVER take the time to complain about places and service, but I had the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant last weekend. We were in College Station for graduation and we had a reservation at Lemon Wedge fro 1 pm. We arrive about 12:45 and let them know we are there. They explain that a shower is in the section that will be ours and they are wrapping up. No problem. At 1:30 we have all been standing outside for 45 minutes so I go to check on our table. Still having the shower. Note that multiple other parties the size of ours have been seated at other tables in this time. Still not too bad, we will continue to wait. Long story short, we finally sit at 2:15 and some food begins to be served at 3:15. On top of all that, the food was terrible. I ordered salmon, it came out as about a 3 oz portion. My BIL ordered the "double cut porkchop", it was the most overdun peice of pork I have ever seen and it was maybe 1/2" thick. Really a terrible experience. We are all pretty laid back people so no one really said anything, but we were all very disappointed.

1. I would like to see if others have had similar or opposite experiences.
2. I would like to have discussion as to whether I am overreacting or if others would feel that experience was as poor as I did.

The last time we went to Lemon Wedge, it took speaking with a manager to even get water delivered to our table. After that the service picked up, but it the service was significantly lacking for the price.

We weren't fans of Lemon Wedge. Tried it twice and both times were disappointed with the food and service (for the price we were paying). Never used reservations, so can't speak to that. Not planning on going back anytime soon.

I have learned that the Lemon Wedge cannot handle any type of event pressure. Nice place to go for a quiet lunch, but if there is a holiday or a dance, or graduation, the front of the house and apparently the kitchen get overwhelmed. Had a very similar experience to the OP with the addition of getting dessert to go since we could tell they needed our table. When we got home, the order was wrong. Have not been back.

We've always had great food and good service there. They were booked solid last weekend and were only seating people that had reservations (no walk ups as we were told earlier in the week). Glad to hear they have a good customer base. Too bad you didn't have a good experience.

Been there 3 times. Every time the service was horrible. The food wasn't terrible, but wasn't great .

We go there for the sunday brunch buffet. Never had a problem on those days. There are generally 12 of us when all the family gets together and they have us ready to go each time. There are enough servers to take care of refills and picking up your dishes.

I've also gone there several times for lunch and dinner and have yet to have any kind of poor experience, although they weren't slammed with a huge crowd.

Now waiting as long as yall did to get seated, and then an hour to get your food is outrageous and definitely worth letting management know. I would've waited 30 minutes total and then gone to Casa Rod. That is a family-run business and I bet they (chef Denise) would be concerned to hear what happened.

I took the family there a few weeks ago. It was our first time there. We won't be going back. They weren't busy at the time, but it took forever to get waited on. Every waiter/waitress just walked by like we weren't their problem. Finally someone stopped and helped. After waiting way too long for our food, it wasn't very good.

The table next to us had some sort of problem with their food and ended up with the manager giving them a few to go containers with new food when they left.

Mediocre food, bad service and the owners have horrible attitudes and couldn't care less...won't go back again.

Ok so it sounds like you guys are saying it was an isolated incident and we should definitely give them a second chance. Glad I started this thread.

Good lord what a horrible experience based on wait time alone. I read this entire thread and when I was done looked over at the sandwich I made myself for dinner and whispered "thank you".

Sounds like poor old Lemon Wedge can't measure up to the high standards of BCS folks...unlike Fazolis.

We've never eaten there, so what I'm posting is hearsay (therefore not admissible in court). Several people at work have eaten there and declared the prices high and food bland. That doesn't mean I won't go there some time during First Friday, though.

If you want a place that's not flustered by large crowds of people showing up, go to Papa Perez. Get the diners in, feed them, clean the table, get more diners in.... Somebody runs that place like a submarine, and I admire efficiency.

Horrible....both the food and the service. We had 10 people in our party and none of us have ever been back.

I work downtown and I eat lunch there about once a month; never had any problems at lunch; enjoy the food, which is a little different from the run of the mill menus you see at chains; I can see where they might have problems if they were slammed; I hope management is made aware of this thread, because they need to know of the number of bad experiences mentioned;

Went there two times and both times the food was average to good and have no issues with it but the service and attention by the wait staff is terrible.

The second time we went we sat there for about 10 minutes w/o any service or even eye contact from anyone. A number of persons walked by our table without any comment or service.

I don't know the owners or the managers but they need to pay more attention to providing a high level of service and need some consultation on employee management and training.

Often restaurant managers/owners think that they are selling food. Yes they are, but that is just one aspects of the sales proposition.

Actually the are not selling food they are offering a dining experience that consists not only of food that tastes good, hot, and presented well but also a clean table and restaurant, a smile at the door and by the wait staff, and timely and great service.

The Lemon Wedge managers/owners need to go down to Café Capri or any of many other restaurants in the downtown area and take notes on what great service is.

Went once $15 for a slice of meat loaf that was average at best with nothing special about the service.
I wish restaurant owners would read all these comments and realize their doing something wrong before they throw away the rest of their entire life savings in a failing restaurant.

I've never had a bad experience there and the food has always been very good. I have never been there when a big event is being held in town. I'd give them another chance.

This is the case of a resaurant that that thinks it is better than it really is. I've been there 4 times with both large and small parties and have never been impressed. While my food has been generally good, it has never been worth the price, especially when you throw in the overall experience. I doubt I'll go back.

The primary blame falls squarely on the ownership/management. The servers - for the most part - seem poorly trained and held to a low standard of excellence. They've been inattentive, slow, and often only marginally friendly. Pricing is unrealistic, given what is being served. The overall experience is just lacking.

Christopher's,for example, provides me with an experience I'm willing to pay for - both food and service. It is expensive (for my wallet), but I never leave disappointed.

I hope they make changes and succeed. I would give it another try if I heard things had turned around. As it is, there are too many other choices - local and chain - that will give me better food and a better experience at a better price.

I've been there probably 4-5 times, usually around lunchtime with both small and large groups. The food has always been ok, but the service and frustration that came with eating there was not worth the price. I would much rather go to Maddens and have a wonderful lunch without the annoyance of bad customer service. I do not plan on going back. I've given them way too many chances.

Pete, I've been there probably 3 times with just 2 or 3 people. It was horrible service then, and it was not even busy. Also, if you accept a reservation on graduation weekend, it is your job to make sure that you accommodate them if you say you can. Turn away those who do not have a reservation if you have to in order to make it work. It is completely unprofessional in my opinion to make someone wait as long as they did when they made plans ahead of time to have a table ready. Judging from the number of complaints on this thread of poor service though, it sounds like the problem is not just on graduation weekend. Hopefully the owners will see this and make some changes.

I wouldn't have said it quite like AstroPete but he does have a point, more or less. Even the best restaurants get horribly slammed on things like graduation weekend. Restaurants don't, or can't suddenly just triple/quadruple their staff for the handful of days when things are crazy. Its obviously very important to many people that they have that special dinner/night out that coincides with an event but under such circumstances, you pays your money you takes your chances.
Go visit the online review sites like Yelp or Urbanspoon and you will see that the highest volume of complaints, even at the best places, are from people who went during these types of special events.

Like I said, I'm not sticking up for Lemon Wedge, they suck for all I know. I've been there once and don't really recall much about it. I'm just saying ANYONE who complains about ANY service they get on graduation weekend in this town is naive and should probably just stay home.

Meds are fine today.

No. Just because they're busy doesn't mean you get to have ****ty customer service.

It's a good thing I already don't like BJs, because after that comment, there's no way I'd ever go there.

It's definitely a price sensitive food community around here. If you have higher priced fare, it better be justified somehow, or the restaurant prolly won't make it.
