Stopped by earlier to pick up some steaks for the grill and saw on their sign that they make muffalettas. Having not been to New Orleans in a while I figured I would give it a shot with my expectations fairly low. It was dam good! I would say better than Central Grocercy in New Orleans which has always been king of the muffaletta. If you like Olives, Olive oil, sliced Italian meats and cheeses you really should give it a try. A whole one is $15.99 and enough for 3-4 foks. I think a half is $8.99 and enough for 2 people.

Glad to know this. I've had the muffuletta at Central Grocery. I know it's sacrilege to say, but Frank's (two doors down on Decatur Street) is better. Have to try our local version.

I seem to remember a while back that you could get great muffulettas at the Farmer's Market (across Texas Avenue) and Mike's Grocery (on East 23rd Street).

I never had a muffaletta at Mike's Grocery, but they had really, really good po-boys! I know professors from the Hort. building on west campus that used to make the trek over to Mike's on a regular basis just for a sammich! To me, that speaks volumes!

Yes, the muffalatta at Readfield's is great. I noticed it being compared to the one at Mike's Grocery back in the day. FYI, L.J., the deli guy at Readfields is Mike's son and has been with them since he sold Mike's.

Love that store. Great meats, great breads, lots of cool canned and dried stuff and great people. OP do you know if they sell the olive salad separately that they use?

If there is a better sandwich in BCS than Readfield's muffalettas it is dang good.

Their's about as good as it gets.
