Chic Fil A is actually doing away with having mall locations any where, not just in C.S.

Raising Cane's will be taking over that spot.

I am the franchisee of the Texas Avenue location and also the location being built in front of Lowe's on Hwy 6.

The mall location has been a corporate location since March 2011. It has been under evaluation since shortly after it became a corporate location.

Chick-fil-A more than likely would have stayed a while longer on the month to month lease.

The Mall found a long term tenant and decided to ask Chick-fil-A to leave in a timely manner.

Currently there are 323 mall locations nation wide. Including 2 of the locations were opened this year. Over
1600 locations in total.

The mall asked Chic Fil A to leave?! As crappy as that mall is and that too was the only location we would eat at- it's a shame.

I'm going to really have to admit how old I am by posting this one: I can remember when the food court area was ringed by food places.

Of course, I can also remember when that mall also had a movie theater and a cafeteria.

To summarize, I can remember when Post Oak Mall was a destination. We'd drive in from Brenham and spend the bulk of a Saturday there.

Mall management has driven businesses out, and driven out a lot of customers too. Now that we live here and drive by it two or three times a week, we go there maybe once or twice a year.

Wal-Mart is putting them out of business, so they respond by raising the rent on the stores that have tenants. Brilliant. And I'd thought that the captain of the Titanic drowned when the ship went down. No. He just came to College Station to run the mall.

ro - that post doesn't make you old - because I'm not old and I worked at the mall while those things were in place...

A mall is a mall - they are all suffering as shoppers choose lifestyle centers for shopping. When I worked there, our store was one of the top in the chain and I have no reason to think that same store doesn't still perform as well.

The mall doesn't cater to our age group (between babies in strollers and senior citizens), so we don't go very often. Students may complain about the mall, but they still head to Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, the Mac counter and more.
Mommies still head to Gymboree and we even still frequent Justice - there are stores there that attract shoppers.

Last I heard POM was about to undergo major updates, but then the economy flopped and now all is in limbo.

I'm sad to see CFA close, but if someone else offers more money for the space - it happens.

*If* POM were to close Sear's and create an open air end similar to other malls headed out toward BJ's and Chuy's - it could return to a destination. *could* - we shall see

I've read several times on here that mall management has run business away. How about someone in the know (i.e. not speculation that supports your claim) give some examples of how this is happening.

As for Chick being asked to leave, the mall got a long term lease from another vendor vs a month to month from Chick. It's the obvious choice. If Chick wanted to stay they could have negotiated a long(er) term deal.

Out in the sticks we just order stuff off the internet and let Brown Santa deliver it to us. Beats driving a hour and half to the big city and back.

The LazerMagic people left to digs across the street back in the day. They said rent went way up when it came time to renew their lease.

And what's sad is that the Gymboree here is so tiny and crowded, it's almost impossible to navigate with a stroller! Kind of defeats the purpose.

Manor East Mall was greatness because the theater there had an excellent sound system in the big auditorium. We saw a 70MM print of DUNE there and really enjoyed it.
