Will someone please pin point where El Tio is for me? I know its by 17 in Bryan but I can't find it. Does it even look like a restaurant joint? Is it a house? I've heard good things and really want to see how close to home it hits.

For baja/so-cal you can skip fuzzys and easterwood airport and just go to la bodega

Not until there's a place were I can get good crunchy rolled tacos and good cheap and big bean and cheese burritos.

I'll second what acp46 said about Mi Familia Coco Loco -- which is on the west side of the feeder road on the bypass right by the Howard Johnson's, in between Rock Prairie and Deacon.

Those charro beans: Wow! I've had the refried ones, too, and they're fine, but seriously! The charro beans are the best I've had outside of Mexico.

Don't bother with the buffet. Order the tacos off the menu, and be sure to get some beans. The tacos al pastor, the barbacoa, and the carne asada are all fabulous.

So 2 pages of opinions and no one mentioned Chuy's? I'm mildly surprised. Not that I think they're the best, either.

We had fish tacos from Fuegos yesterday. Very tasty.

Yes, fish tacos at Fuego are by far the best in town.

For fried fish, I do think you are correct. The amount of fish combined with the condiments was wonderful. We got them to go because the place was packed, and everything was kept separate, so they were still fresh and not soggy by the time we got them home.

Now, that said, my all time favorite fish tacos are from Chef Tai! The fish is grilled and melts in your mouth!

depends on what you want

as far as Tex Mex goes Abuelos, Joses, Casa Rod, Mi Cocina, Papa Perez are all the same to me

plenty of times have gone into East Bryan off Texas Ave where all the signs turn spanish..just pick a few places ot go into a grab some tacos or something. All pretty good

La Botana, try the beef fajita gordita or the chile relleno, best in town.

still waiting for Pappasitos to come to town.

If that Sombras place is on the corner of Carson and College we tried that and it was not very good. It was white folks making Mexican food..not to sound racist but that's like Oriental food made by black people or soul food made by Asian people. I like to know my Mexican food is made by Mexican people and my chinese food is made by Oriental people (Tjins). So El Sol de Mexico is about as authentic as you can get here. Casa Rod and Polly's Cocina are Tex Mex. Chuy's and On the Border are restaurant fast food Mexican.

For authentic Mexican, I recommend the "deli" at La Michoacana Market, Texas Ave. & Coulter.
