I have a question about a townhome community in Bryan and an apartment complex in Bryan too. I am considering moving to that area and was wondering if anyone has any information good or bad on "The Oaks at Villa Maria Townhomes" and the West University Oaks near Wellborn. I have lived in CS, but am looking for a quieter place. Are the ones I mentioned okay for a college student? Thank you.

Just two major complaints about that place

1. It's in Bryan
2. It's not in College Station.

Oaks are probably okay, quick trip to campus down 2818. West Univ I wouldn't live in cuz it's in a shady area.

How much are you looking to spend......I am about to finish 6 new town homes (2 bdrm-2.5 bath) two story over by Crescent Point.

These are very nice large town homes roughly 1340 S.F.

Call P&S Properties and ask about vacancies on Eagle Pass.

You might try driving north on Boardmore from 29th, there are some rental houses back in that area north of briarcrest CC.

Would not wish West University Oaks on anyone unless they were rowdy 18-20 y/o who did not mind the company of same, and moving once a semester on average. I'd rather take my chances down on Yegua, or over behind the Cowboy than WUO.

There are some older units east of the south end of Barak. They are quiet, even backing up behind furniture row. Road access is not bad, either, you have to know Oak Hill will get you to Windridge which becomes Carter Creek Parkway

I did a search looking for the location of The Oaks and I stumbled across this website that I thought you might find useful in your apartment search.http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/TX-Bryan-Oaks-Of-Villa-Maria.html

For major or long term purchases, I always do an internet search for reviews.

Wow, good to shady in 3 blocks. Is there really that much of a "cliff" in neighborhood quality there?

I lived on Verde for 3 years and am still here to tell about it. Wouldn't live near there now, though.

I too lived in that area about 5 years ago and would not live there now.

@Andyv94- I am hoping to stay at $700 or under and only need a one bedroom. Thanks everyone for the information.

You might want to take a look at april court townhomes over on carter creek right next to aerofit. I lived there from 2002-2004 and they were pretty quiet with easy access to university drive. The one bedrooms used to rent for $425 and the two bedrooms were $525.

I lived a the Oaks of Villa Maria about 10 years ago and absolutely loved it. It was very quiet and the view I had was quite peaceful (facing the inner tree area). I was flanked by an elderly woman and the guy who was the A&M Registrar at the time. Good housing prices encouraged me to finally leave the apartment life but I have fond memories of that place. Not sure how it is now.

The Oaks on/at Villa Maria would be a nice quiet place. Curious, are you leaving an apartment on SW Pkwy? I've noticed all the older ones are experiencing "white flight" in a hurry. Not that there's anything wrong w/shady people. I don't mind having to say "excuse me" 2-3 times to get people to move off a set of stairs they've been sitting on all day. I also love the sound of trunk rattle.

@Classic Arnold: No, I don't live on SW Parkway currently, however I did look at a few places there and thank goodness went through there at night too. Too much late night activity for me.

I appreciate everyone's help.

We do alot of business with West University Gardens. Very affordable for the space you get, and extremely quiet for being so close to campus. Call me for more.

You are thinking of the other townhomes to the left of Aerofit. April court is to the right.

Oakwood Townhomes & Old Oaks Condominiums are the ones that had the fire. Also, keep in mind that these are usually individually owned & some owners lease them out - but you normally have to go through a property management company. I own mine, but do know there are 5 - 8 that might be rented in my complex. And as far as I know we have NEVER had signs up indicating they are available for rent.
