KBTX says they are first in HD locally but only by a week. KAGS News launches on Monday in HD with a completed studio. KBTX rushed ahead to be first so that they could say that they were first at the beginning of every news cast and on commercials.

I love competition, it pushes businesses to do things that they wouldn't bother doing if they were the only ones in town. Take note KYLE and KRHD.

Is the new KBTX studio complete? I can't tell, it still looks pretty much the same.

I think it is a new set but it is hard to tell. Just watched it and you see a printer behind the guy and some desks. They also stopped updating the videos and pictures of the new conversion on their site. Last update was about August of last year.

Maybe KBTX just got bored with the whole update thing. I thought the videos were cool and watched them for updates. I did watch the news the other night and saw these old looking TV sets behind them. Maybe it is just not completed, it seems to be lacking something.

I got a tour by Mike Wright about a Month and a half ago. They are still working on the set. It is being built off site. They are still working on the news room. That is what you see in the background.

Looks like they are finally about to complete the studio. I guess they are behind on the schedule that they originally planned for the new studio.

So, will you be in HD on DirecTV? I think that was the original question/issue.

75AG - We would love to be HD on DirecTV and invested several thousand with installation of a fiber directly from KBTX all the way to the DirecTV head end north of Waco which delivers our HD signal to them. The choice to not carry KBTX in HD is solely the decision of DirecTV. We appreciate Suddenlink and Dish serving this area by carriage of our signal in HD. Hopefully, Direct will decide to carry it at some point.
