How long do you want to ignore this user?
Could the closure of the station on Texas been because TxDOT redid that section of Texas and put a median in front of it restricting left turns?

The proposed site on University allows both right and left turns on a major corridor with quick access to much of the City (if people pay attention to the flashing lights).

Good point about the fire fighters not being there all the time...I was thinking more best case. The worst case with Station One being out and another station coming makes my point better, even, since the time would be longer. But that's all completely variable and pretty unpredicatable, so it's a roll of the dice, really.

The thing is, a great majority of CS Fire calls are medical as I understand it. All equipment (engines, ladder trucks, etc.) is loaded with limited life support supplies to help out, since sometimes an engine gets there before the ambulance, which may be on a call or at the hospital, etc. And CS Fire requires all new hires to be paramedics or capable of passing the courses to become one in a limited time after being hired, so even the person driving the truck is fully trained and can save your life. If you want to really learn about how it all works, do Citizen's Fire Academy, usually in the Spring. Hugely informative.

Ah, in the fire service, said position is a promotion, and requires a great deal of study and experience; becoming an engineer is no small thing.

Just saying.
