Ford Ranger 2002 with around 105K has either a clutch bearing or slave gone bad. Looking for a good honest and reasonable mech in the CS area.

What is Christopher's number. I would imagine this is going to take opening up the the tran to get to the clutch not so sure he can do that mobile.

We have a mechanic that we use for all our stuff. He even rebuilt a motor and did a tranny in our vans. He is extremely reasonable and knowledgeable.

Does anyone know the going rate for labor? CarDoc is $125 an hour, which seems a bit much, but I honestly have no idea.

If that's a fair rate, then boy did I go into the wrong line of work, lol.

Aaron Horn at Aamco Transmissions. They do everything, not just transmissions. He is an Aggie and involved locally. Great guy and very honest.

James McDowell does all our other services. He is a great guy and mechanic. Used to be at Redtail but went off on his own. Has a shop on Cain.

I use Christian Brothers Automotive in CS. I've been incredibly pleased with their work and the best customer service I've ever had from a mechanic.

The good news is we have lots of great mechanics in the area - all mentioned already. The best news is Christopher has ASA cert, tons of experience, a friendly face and never once sticker shock. I love Dan at Superior and so did Christopher. I think he worked there for like 13 years. He's on his own now and the part where he comes to you is such a great service. He has a place to work on it if it's not a "mobile" fix. He's a great guy - struck out on his own! Definitely call him! mags

Do NOT use Cardoc. Had a very bad experience with them. It was partly my fault for being gullible at the time, but they didn't screw me over by accident.

Brazos Valley by far the best we've ever used. After many tries of locating a computer problem in our Jeep, they found it, and fixed when even the Jeep Dealship couldn't do it.
