The wife was craving some Stover Boys sweet potato fries today. Since we can't have those any longer, we decided to try Fat Burger, since they apparently have them.

It was disappointing, to say the least. The burger was 'okay' but the fries and onion rings lacked any sort of spirit at all.

The waitress was nice and attentive, at least.

Anyone have a recommendation for us?

Carters Burger

I've pretty much figured out that to get a good burger and fixing in this town you have to cook it yourself. I'm waiting for someone to prove me wrong.

We ate at Fat Burger today for the first time since college (and that was 12 years ago!).

We thought it was pretty good. Burger was good, and I liked the honey mustard and jalepeno spread on the fixins bar. I really, really liked the fried corn nuggets.

Fatburgers Philly Cheese Steak is pretty good and I dont know if theres a better one in town.

For Burgers you cant go wrong with Harvey Washbangers.

The burger at Village Foods deli is said to outstanding but I have not yet been over there for one.

I Love Fat Burgers. I'd encourage to give them a second try.

By far the BEST burger I've ever had is KOPPE BRIDGE!! YUM

Koppe Bridge is fine, but you need to expand your burger horizons.

Come to Houston and go to Beck's Prime....

What I like about Fatburger is that you can fix your burger to your specification: lots of spinach, tomatoes, peppers, etc.

I wanna try the Kobe Beef Burgers from Chef Tai's Mobile Gourmet.

MMMMMmmmmm, Beck's prime. Love their steak sandwich! Less so their fries, because I am a crunchy fry guy. They have Parmesan crisps, which are good, though.

Chef Tai's mobile food truck kobe beef burgers are very good if you get a chance to catch them somewhere.

Chef Tai has some great Kobe Beef burgers. They also have a delicious pulled bbq pork called the Sloppy Jose and calimari tacos. Before they took their break for the holidays, we picked up one of each and then took them home and split the entrees between the 4 of us. Seriously delicious! Check them out on Facebook and you can get their weekly scheduled lunch spots.

There are 3 in the area that are seperately owned and have different menus and food.

I ate at the one on University. We were going to go to the drive through at McDs and then thought to try Fat Burger.

I'm still thinking about the corn nuggets.

We went to the "new" one on Wellborn, in the same shopping center are the ACE.

OP, if there are several locations owned by several operators...you should probably go edit your original post to say which location in particular you're talking about so the other locations dont get a bad rap.

i eat at the University one and never had any bad experiences there.

I agree with robertcope, where should we go to "expand our horizons"? I love the tiajuana fries at chicken oil! And as for burgers, I always end up eating at chicken oil, koppe bridge or ozona (on tuesdays for their special)

Apparently you've never been to Margie's downtown or Joe's Place on Hwy. 21.

Chef Tais kobe-good but not an upgrade sufficient enough as kobe should be
Margies-decent old fashioned greasy burger. Worth the price
Koppe bridge-good burger.
Chicken oil-good burger
Dixie chicken-good burger
Knockouts-good burger

Had a good burger and some good wings at Harvey Washbangers Saturday night. I always forget about them when thinking of just food, but it is always good.

I don't think Koppe Bridge is "By Far" the best burger ever. Within B/CS, Chicken Oil has a good one (better than Koppe Bridge IMO). Chili's and Fuddruckers even have some good burgers for chain places.

The Porch, Dutch's and Twisted Root in DFW have excellent burgers.

Beck's Prime is a good option in Houston. There's Burger Fresh in Conroe.

Five Guys is the best chain burger I've had. A lot of people like Smashburger.

I thought you were just employing a little hyperbole in declaring Koppe Bridge the best in all the land "by far." I wasn't trying to be hateful.

Fatburger Grill (Wellborn) Is a favorite for us.
Part of my enjoyment is our friendship with the owner. He and his family work very hard to put out a good product. His place is impeccably clean and our service has been consistent and efficient.
We'll continue to go there despite the naysayers.

I know this is the B/CS board but the poster that mentiond Beck's Prime was a little off. They are good burgers but not the best. Southwell's are hard to beat but the best burger I've had in recent memory was at Willie's Ice House.

Since this was originally a Fat Burger review, I will say that I used to frequent the one off of Texas alot, they had great burgers and nice staff until I found Joe's on Hwy 21 they make one heck of a burger!
