quote:
Don't ever hire someone because you heard that they are the best. Interview them first.
Agree with this completely. Much like buying a car, who will do the best job really depends on what kind of job you want done. You wouldn't go after anys at a picnic with a bazooka, but the reverse is also true, don;t go elephant hunting with a pellet gun.
Unfortunately, really good attorneys typically stay really busy. An attorney who actually cares about their clients will have a competent assistant who can get you the answers you need without requiring that you schedule multiple appointments.
A number of years ago I worked for a local family law attorney who made use of the position of client liaison. That person's job was to call each and every client bi-weekly to make sure that if they had questions, those questions were answered quickly.
Just always remember, what you are paying for when you hire an attorney is their knowledge and expertise. So make sure that you hire someone who can effectively communicate with you and can comminucate your desires to the court. Look for language in all orders that is not subject to "interpretation". Inevitably, your particular interpretation won't be the same as the other side.
