I just called and talked to him on that number to make sure I had the right one. So that works.

You can also try his office number - 979-446-0054

On another note - you seem "thrilled" with your original contractor ? - Waiting 4 months to finish punchlist work ? Gosh.

Perhaps a warning to the people about that contractor.....

(what are the chances I took INFO 420 from you 8 years ago ?)

My name is Mike Bellott; I have been with Audio Video since 1986. A client alerted me to this thread and suggested that I make a comment.

I’m not sure why we were included in the original post. We didn’t do any work on the house, but I would be glad to lend you a hand. We have been doing business in BCS for over 30 years and we are often asked by builders and home owners to clean up problems left by other contractors. Sadly, this is not uncommon…

Mhnatt, even though the speaker wire you mentioned sounds like it was run incorrectly, if you are hearing hum, a more common culprit would be a ground loop. I would be happy to take a look at this, or even walk you through the process for eliminating the hum. Getting wires down a wall with a fireblock can sometimes be tricky but is usually possible. I would also be glad to stop by and take a look at this whenever you like.

We are open from 10 to 6, Monday through Saturday; I am usually at the office, but if I happen to be out just leave a message. Our telephone number is 979-268-6010.

Great response Mike.

I used A/V last year for some B&W Speakers outside and have been happy with the work A/V did and would use them again.

In fact, Mike, I want a good sub to put out on the patio as well. B&W or what do you recommend? It will be outside under a patio, not sure where placement should be. Very short wire run for this as well. Also, do you guys carry McIntosh systems?

The easy one first: Yes, we have carried McIntosh for many years. Great product!

Outdoor subwoofers are another story. All of the outdoor subwoofers that I'm familiar with are designed so that they can be buried. Either there is no provision for placing them on a porch, or they are really ugly and should probably be hidden. Also, if you're looking for something comparable in quality to your B&W speakers, you might have to consider a sub that's intended for indoor use and just take it outdoors when you want the added bass.

Stop by the office and I will be glad to show you what's available. And, thanks for the compliment! We really do try to make everybody happy.

Call Deftech. Ryan Slater is the owner. He is an Aggie Grad and has an office/showroom on hwy 30 near bird pond. His number is 979-422-0250 I think if not you can call information. He does quality work and does it right the first time. We had to get him over to our house to fix mess ups from other companies.

+1 for Audio Video. I have worked closely with them for many years, including some very large, very complex jobs in multi-million dollar homes. That being said, if you have a "normal" sized house like most of us, or you're looking for a single component for your home, they are a great choice as well. Everyone I have worked with there has always been nothing but professional, and they really know their stuff.

If you're in the market for any type of new audio or video equipment, you owe it to yourself to stop in and talk to them.
