I dont know how to post pictures but can tell you a good place to go in Independence. if you take 390 past Old baylor and look for Old Independence rd which turns left (it's gravel for part of the way) there are a few huge fields of wildflowers. There is one that is so full of Paintbrushes it's incredible. The road eventually gets you to Airport Rd and you can turn left to either go eat the at Airport Diner or get back to 50 and head back home.

The CoCS Crouncil should seriously look at the possibility of annexing these locations in the future!

Well, if you have a reason to be down to Giddings, come back on FM 180.

If you are in the Burton area, go south down almost any of the roads there, and it's a marvel. FM 398 is flat-out nice the whole length.

If you are returning from Brenham, please, please be careful on 105--there are some glorious blue-like-a-pond patches (especially south of the road and west of FM 912)--but, let's not wreck any one while doing so.

Lee Co has primrose and paint to go with the bluebonnets.

Washington Co remains gloriously blue, if with violets and verbena to set off the range of blue and purple.

Waller Co is all over, and depends mightily on which road you are on. 290 west of Hempstead is glorious right to the Brazos, and on past Chappell Hill, but clueless clods make it risky even on weekdays.

6 gets very nice south of Navasota, and stays that way to Hempstead.

A dedicated person can cut east of Hempstead and head north up FM 362. They will be rewarded for this--Just, please, don't wreck people, please (yeah, there are some jaw-droppers). Even better, 362 comes out in glorious color on 105. This will be really coming in by this weekend (Parent's).

Best public access color in Brazos Co right now has to be on 47, airport to 21. Nice wide shoulders both sides, good verges; good backdrops for photo taking, and a variety of colors.

Or, that's what I've seen so far.

Where is a good place to take my children to make a wildflower picture? Some place where we will not be tresspassing is preferred.

Old Baylor is public and quite picturesque.

ValleyRat,
The picture I took with the little shed, that is at Old Baylor Road that the poster before me is talking about. There were a ton of parents taking pictures of their kids there. Go to the town of Independence, about 18 miles south from the 50/60 intersection, turn west and less than 1/2 mile down the road, you will probably see a crap load of people parked around some historical looking buildings. Those are sites of the Independence Historical Society and you can tromp around all you want. I really recommend this place if you have time b/c it's public and you don't have to park on the shoulder of a busy highway like 105 or 47.
