How long do you want to ignore this user?
I want to get some blown in insulation (not the foam) put it above my garage and maybe added to the house part of the attic.
Any recommendations of good people to contact for quotes? I met a couple at the home show and gave them my info but no calls. I really would like to get it done this month if possible.
I do realize you can rent the machines but that takes two people and there is just one of me.

Thanks!

Insulation is a business Venus Pest has considered getting into. The main reason would be to remove and replace rodent contaminated insulation. Usually, you can also improve the r-value of the insulation, decreasing energy expense. Also, there are tax credits for improving energy efficiency using insulation. You might check with TAP insulation (www.TAPinsulation.com). They probably have a list of pest control companies that install their insulation (but use us for pest control!!!!!).

One thing I don't like about TAP is that they kind of over do the "pest control" part of the insulation. It does have boric acid in it and they like to say that controls pests. The reality is that the insulation is made of cellulose (aka termite food), so they have to put boric acid in it to keep termites from being able to eat it. I doubt termites will ever see it in your attic (they usually start from the ground up). It might help with silverfish or cockroaches - pests that hang out in the attic and chew on almost anything. It probably wouldn't affect scorpions or spiders since they aren't likely to ingest it - they eat other bugs.

Anyway, if it improves your r-value, it is probably good insulation.

What does MyBCS think.... should Venus Pest Company get in the insulation business????
