Suddenlink DVR issues.

Has anyone else had problems with their DVR?

Mine has erased all of the series I had programed to record. I called a friend and hers has been erased also.

Ours seems to be recording now, so we did not have this issue.

That being said we had a tech out Tuesday because of a connection issue. While he was here I mentioned that sometimes the shows that we have a pass set up for records ALL shows even though the pass is set up to record only NEW shows.

Apparently the issue is with tv guide in that not all the shows have the correct show detail. Meaning when you click info it does not say NEW or REPEAT even though it should. If it has nothing then the DVR automatically records the show.

I just went through the whole guide for the next two weeks and tried to catch all the series I usually have recorded.

There are some shows that I can't delete until I have the next episode recorded. If I delete it after I watch it, it will then record that same episode the next time it is on, because it thinks it is new.

Mine takes several minutes to delete something.

Piece of crap. Tivo functionality is so much better.

One of my DVRs completely erased my scheduled recordings this evening.

I plan on calling them tomorrow.

Please let me know what they say about it. I called about it right after I posted and according to the person as Suddenlink, they had no idea what may have caused it to erase the future recordings. The guy said that he checked something and there was nothing sent to the box that would cause it to do that.

It also happened to our second DVR that we have.

It would be nice to have another cable choice (and not satellite)

I dislike Suddenlink more and more each day.

Ours got erased as well. I was up last night and noticed the clock had gone off sometime after 2am. I didn't think anything of it until none of my shows had the record light next to them.

Mine also got erased and it erased all our favorites as well. I had to go back in and try to remember what all I have recording. I hope I caught it all.

our series recordings got erased as well - and that's really a pain because some of things are shows that are currently "on break" so there's no way I can set them up to record until they show up in the schedule again.

So, basically I'll have to remember to keep checking the schedule for the shows - what a pain in the butt.

Yes, having to remember to setup a recording so you can sit on your butt on watch a ton of television is a great hardship. I'm sure our forefathers would sympathize with you.

mine also is having issues. i went through my series recordings and reset "the office" recording, hoping that would fix the issue, but it still hasn't recorded the last 2 episodes.

anyone else randomly can't rewind live TV? i've noticed a few times it won't when the DVR is practically full, but most of the time i can have more than 25% empty and it still doesn't work. also, no other shows are recording at the time.

dish's DVR was 10x better.

I've had all the problems mentioned above- except for the random erasings. What helps is to turn off the box, unplug it, then boot it back up. After that, everything should work for awhile until you have to reboot it again.

All of my series have been erased as well. I have to call Suddenlink at least once a month for this stupid box. They even tried to see me a protection plan today. I would spend anymore money on their CRAP!

Why not satellite? DVR is awesome. I can even set a show to record from my phone.

I got a recorded message call this evening from Suddenlink about the issue with stuff being erased. Of course, right when they called was when one of the kids had some sort of issue, so I didn't hear all of it.

At least they realizd there was an issue because when I called after it happened, the tech guy couldn't find anything wrong.

The message said that it was a glitch when they updated the software.

I have two DVRs. One is a Motorola and the other is a Pace.

The Pace brand is the only one that erased.

Mine froze up last night. The picture just froze, even though the volume continued. I had to unplug everything for a minute then power back on. It was fine after that. Oh, and I didn't lose any of my recordings.

That's my useless post for the day.

My recorded shows were gone and my series recordings also gone.

I did however get a call yesterday from Suddenlink that they did have a problem during an upgrade and they apologized.

I know... doesn't fix all the stuff lost, but I'm over it.

I had a message (courtesy call as they called it) on my answering machine from suddenlink on Saturday. They stated that they did an 'upgrade' to the DVR's system and some schedules were erased, to "check your recordings".

Thanks for posting about this. Noticed about halfway through the show that Smallville was on and series recording was mysteriously gone and refused to reset. Some other series recordings were still listed, and I was able to manually set for the half of Smallville that was playing. I didn't really want to just see the 2nd half of the show though, so I wound up buying it off iTunes.

So, this is supposedly fixed and should be able to do series recordings again?

Did anyone else notice that the amount of "space" or "buffer" that you get when watching live programming seems to have been cut in half? In other words, the amount of time you can keep a live program paused.

I'm not positive, but I think that buffer is directly related to the amount of free space on your DVR. If you're 95%, for example, then your buffer will be minuscule.

I discovered a couple nights ago that I couldn't pause or rewind while watching NBC but when I flipped up or down a couple channels I had no problems...

I noticed the pausing thing during the super bowl. I had paused the game for about 20 minutes, and when I came back, it had unpaused itself, and I couldn't go rewind it back where it was.

I had about 80% free space, so I don't think it's an issue with regards to space.

The time bar when watching live TV, is a complete mess now.

It used to be that it would show the end of the program and how far you were through it. then when you left the channel and came back it would save your place. It no longer does this, It either starts back at the beginning or goes right to live.

Also it now freezes a ton more when switching channels.

I've had that same thing happen Tinker. I don't understand this. You would think the way Suddenlink DVR is setup it was some new fangled device that no one else has.

We dumped suddenlink last summer after their so called "upgrade" to the guide. We went with Dish because they seemed to have better pricing and receiver/DVR options. Even after the intro pricing, we're still paying a couple of dollars less a month than we were with suddenlink, but we get a lot more channels and A TON of more HD channels.

The differences in DVRs is amazing; Dish's DVR beats suddenlink without even trying. Better capacity, better organization, ability to set recordings from online, and the ability to use the same DVR for two different rooms. The best part is that Dish DVR actually records what it is supposed to, when it is supposed to, and nothing else. Suddenlink likes to blame the duplicate recroding issue on TV Guide, but Dish's programming guide is also from TV Guide, yet it has none of the same issues.

Txag1876, we were hoping to switch to dish a few months ago, but they came out and told us we didn't have a direct line to the south, and they couldn't install satellite. sigh

As for the "tv guide" issue, it's a bunch of horse crap. I had Time Warner before moving out here, which uses TV Guide, and never had that problem.

The only reason Suddenlink gets the business they do is because they get towns to give them a monopoly in cable service. If there were other cable providers in town, they'd be going bankrupt by now.
