Trashy house in the neighborhood

How does the car pass inspection? There's no way the driver can see the right side mirror, and it's doubtful that they can see using the rearview mirror.

Does the city not have regulations about the height of grass or the conditions of the yards? Surely, someone from the city is aware of this place. I'd take commodes with flowers or swimming pools in the front any day over that yard. I can't imagine the rodents and snakes living in there.

Unfortunately...

Reading this thread and a few others.

Phil Gramm was right.

a BB gun aimed at that pool will take care of that problem.

LOL you made my day. My wife and I lived in that neighborhood until about a month ago and drove past that house all the time. When I saw the title of the thread THAT was the house I pictured in my mind. When I opened the thread and saw the picture I laughed so hard that tears came to my eyes!!!

Its even trashier when all of their kids are out front with no clothes on and their pit bull is sitting there with them!!!!

The car on Gilcrest (and apparently on campus) doesn't have laundry in it - at least not on the top layers you can see. It seems to be layers and layers of paper and just trash. I think it would take years of never cleaning the car for me to accumulate that much stuff.

Willk, I also live near what we call "the toilet man" (who lives across from garage sitters)... he has cactus planted in two toilets in his yard...complete with paint-ball decorations. I would love to trade the toilet man for a family or college students with a kid pool!!

I pass that house a lot. Looked like a college chick today out front. Not sure how they get away with an unsecured pool that close to City of CS offices...

I will bet a million dollars that on the front porch, there is a coffee can full of cigarette ash and butts. And is that a sofa to the left of the pool? Don't you just love people?

what else can you find to complain about?

can you find a way it actually impacts your life in a negative way other than not fitting your ideals?

Aside from the safety issue of neighboring kids wandering to the pool and possibly climbing in, I have no problem with people choosing to keep their yard like this. What if they are offended by me keeping my yard neat and tidy? Are they going to report me to the city because they don't like the way I choose to live my life?

Complaints like this just lead to more law and regulation over the day-to-day life of the people and is an example of the slow growth of government control in the city level of government.

Yeah, how about dirty old men who are still college students. I agree with pretty much everything on this thread. I would hate to live near trash who didn't care at all about what their house looked like. I bet they smell great, sitting out in the sun all day smoking. Sounds like a lot of fun!

I saw a car just like that at the Wellborn post office this morning. There was an older gentleman driving it. I wondered if he always kept his car full like that or if it was his once a year trip to the laundromat.

No laundry, as was posted above, but lots of trash, stuff that probably needs to be donated or tossed, and a ton of books.

I might wander over to that lot later and get a pic if I have time.

My inlaws live in that area and we drive by that house all the time.

Isn't the recliner outside a code enforcement violation in itself?

As far as the other house/car. That's been like that for at least 10 years if not longer. Makes it even more attractive next to the newly built College Hills.

OK, I can understand being all peed off about the pool, sofa, and pit bull, but you people going around inspecting what's in people's cars scare me.

Oh, trust me, it's not about "inspecting", you just can't HELP but see the mess. It jumps out at you. If the windows weren't rolled up, it probably would jump out at you.

Every time there is a missing person report filed, they should go clean out that car. There could be a couple of bodies hidden under that stuff for all we know. And I don't even want to think about what the trunk looks like.

I know this house (the one pictured) all too well. Its a shame that people don't think before they do something.

City of Bryan cleaned up a terrible eyesore in the 700 block of Broadmoor--junk vehicles, camper, boat, you name it. Anyway, the person moved out; it was cleaned up; and it now appears to have a new owner. Kudos to City Code Enforcement!

anybody noticed the similarly "decorated" house on Carter Creek Pkwy? with the art-car/van painted blue and green? i've seen some very strange things out in front of that house. thankfully, i don't live anywhere near that eyesore.

We finally know why the CoCS Council was so adamant about building the TajMahCityHall.

They wanted to move away from that house that was just a block or two away.

If I had only known this when I voted against the bond.

When the whole group is out front over the weekend( pit bull and all), go take a photo.

Send it to Blue Collar comedy for the "You must be redneck if" portion. Ah, good ole southerners!!

There is a certain drivers safety course instructor that seems to have this issue also. I won't name the vehicle type. Great example the individual is setting.
