Wait a minute...Doe's closed on Friday? Are you sure? Because I ate there Saturday evening. As always, the food was good!

I really enjoyed the whole ambiance at the Republic. It was the perfect dining experience.

Sorry, Hugh, you're right after normal closing Saturday night, the owner came in and shut it down.

I guess that could explain why they had ran out of a few of their steaks on the menu by the time we got there Saturday evening. Shucks, I really liked that place...

I so want to throw a Stewie (family guy) style comment at some of the responses on this topic.

If you go to a fine steakhouse, expect to pay fine steakhouse prices. It's not rocket science.

enjoy the food, drinks, atmosphere and the overall experience. You probably don't do it often, so splurge.

I've never seen a steak cost more than $35 and I've been all over the country. It's the alcholic drinks that rack up the cost.

Buford T. is right. You get what you pay for. Good beef is expensive. However, all you gotta do is drive to Houston, Austin or Dallas and go to a nice steakhouse to see that they easily can be from $30 all the way to $45. I can name them.

III Forks, Bob's, Perry's, Pappas Bros., Capital Grille, Sullivan's, etc..

I ate at Doe's the week that it opened here

That was over two years ago, if what you say is true they would not still be here.

It's funnier when you take into account that dbdsnoppy07 is BVD's son.

T-Bone at the Longhorn on Texas N in Bryan. Best kept secret in B-CS.

No, that explains why they went out of business. Both times I was there that happened.

I think they went out of business because their food was bad, it cost too much, and the service was even worse. I don't think I've ever had a blander steak than the one I had at Doe's - and then after serving me a bland $40 piece of meat they give me crappy iodized table salt to season it with - I just don't think many things at that place were very well thought out.
