What say you ags? Don't say both b/c I can't buy another AR...

I am very torn between the two options and my main hang-up is if I get a scope I will not be able to accurately target objects that are within a certain distance to me. I don't want to have to deal with the lack of focus at close range. However, I would very much like to be able to reach out and touch targets at a longer range too.

This is a tough call.

How do you like your rigs?

No need to compromise. Meopta makes a 1-4x scope with an illuminated reticle. At 1 power it works just like a red dot, you can keep both eyes open and find the targets quickly. It will also bump up to 4 power to get some decent range. I'm not sure what you're looking at spending but it is worth the price.

It is a carbine. I would say the range will be between 5 yards and 200 yards...

Realistically the range will probably be between 10 yards and 100 yards.

I'd like to have some magnification, but I definitely don't want something that I can't focus short range shots with.

I guess I am answering my own question, but I wanted to pick yall's brains a little and see what other rigs are out there for some ideas.

I have an EOTech right now, they make a flip up 3x magnifier that I plan to buy in the near future. This way I can have the best of both worlds.

If you are only shooting out to 100 yards then a red dot should be fine. Even for shooting small varmints a 2MOA red dot should be fine. Quick acquisition of the target and easy to aim.

The Meopta is an awesome scope, and I also like the EOTech with the 3x magnifier. Either one will give you the option of shooting at close range and also long range. The only drawback is that either way you will be spending at least $700, but IMO they are worth the money.
