Just set a series of snares on a stick and then lean it against a tree that they play on. That's if you want them dead. If you want one alive (for what reason I don't know) just go buy a cage trap at Wal Mart.

hypothetically speaking, one of these might work: Air Pellet Rifle - Cheap!

hypothetically, one might buy two or three, because they're so inexpensive, and shipping doesn't change that much for the second and third ones.

hypothetically, one might sit out on the back porch and take out squirrels out to thirty yards, swiftly and humanely (with a cheap $7 scope).

I think the pellet speed quoted might be a lot on the conservative side.

Hypothetically "hollow point" pellets work best.

{Caution: squirrels are technically considered a game animal, and it is illegal to take game in Texas with any pellet or air rifle - Means and Methods link}

edit - nevermind. I just saw that you're in NJ. That pellet rifle can't be shipped to NJ. Maybe you can find one for sale locally? The Texas hunting laws obviously don't apply there, as well.

Cat? Dog? Whippets are a small, fast breed that LOVE to kill squirrels, and can easily catch them.

No explicit instructions, but it looks fairly straightforward.

NEW JERSEY RESIDENTS - New Jersey State Law prohibits the shipping of this item to the state of New Jersey.-- to the air rifle.

this would be my first choice, if not for this gay ass state

If this is a squirrels-in-the-attic type problem, go to your local outdoors store and buy a bottle of fox or coyote urine. Get a couple quart size ziploc baggies, fill with cotton balls, then dribble some urine in the baggies. Puncture with a knife in a few places to let the smell out slowly. Place these at the entrances/exits and in the vacinity. Squirrels will be gone in a week or less.

If its in your general yard, try fox/coyote urine around the perimeter and on the trunks of the trees. I'm not sure how effective this will be, but I know that the ziploc baggies trick works wonders.
