Brazos River, or possibly lake Somerville. I've had pretty good luck at Somerville at times off of welch creek park at the island, or in the creeks leading into the lake.

Dittos Somerville. Gibbons is supposedly good too. This time of year I'd bait a shallow shoreline, preferably a stretch with flooded cover, with rangecubes and fish it with shrimp or shad at night.

I know I'm getting boring with my fishing reccomendations on here... but Fayette is another great place. You will limit out on cats in 1hr. Then you can just start to cull the small ones from your cooler. 1 hour in the discharge is all you need.

I agree with lost I've only been fishing at Fayette 2x but I caught 3+ catfish over 3lb each time I was there using a spoon wile bass fishing.

It's called fishing not catching

Jonterr - Same thing has happend to me while fishing Carolina Rig for bass. There is a large rockpile just outside of the discharge canal. Bass were all over it one afternoon and we tore them up with Carolina Rigged trick worms. Every now and then a slow rolling channel cat would suck up the worm. Without coolers to pack, we put them all back.

Fayette is known across the state for its bass fishing. But to the locals - it is THE place to limit out on hungry cats. And I may have just let out the best kept catfishing secret in Central Texas.

Fayette Lake - 1.5hr drive from College Station. 10min from La Grange Texas. Sits right outside the heart of small town Fayetteville Texas.

By far your BEST bet to actually catch something within driving distance of C.S. Unless the fishing is hot or you have experience - stay away from Sommerville. Gibbons is tough 99% of the time.
