yep, I bet he was released so he could go gather the cash to pay off his debts and get his dad back.

He had been beat up and had lost a lot of weight! supposely they beaT UP his son in front of him to get some kind of info out.....he is still in the hospital. I think he will be fine!

Everyone is out to scam you in Cabo. They see a guero and think easy target. It doesn't stop at the language barrier either, being fluent doesnt help. There is a pretty strong police presence, not alot of crime, but the corruption is more than overwhelming.
According to my dad, the houston chronicle doesnt report on these border kidnappings in hopes to not piss off the local mexican community.

Ever since the incident involving the Vidor resident (Tommy Bean) down there I have vowed to never go to Mexico at least along the border for hunting, vacation or whatever.
It's extremely sad and frustrating. Mexico is a wonderful place, rich in resources. It shows how a lack of a true republic or democracy, or one filled with corruption will do.
I really think that this has been one of Bush's major shortfalls imo. He should have stood up and quelshed the Bean incident and threatened to totally shut down the border if (multiple) incidents like this didn't stop immediately. They are TOTALLY dependent on the US of A for nearly everything down there. I think we really need to just tell them to put up or shut up and we're done with them.
