Fall armyworm caterpillars are stripping what little grass I managed to grow in the last few weeks down to the stump. They haven't gotten to the oats bad yet... but they love them.

Lots of new little tender grass poking up everywhere... just what armyworms like. You'd better check your food plots for them or they'll strip them clean.

I doused as many as I could today with a "spraying device" and a buttload of Asana. Old timers always said that you could drag them to death with mesquite branches behind a team of mules, but it doesn't sound likely to me. I'll take my chances with synthetic pyrethroids.

I hope they haven't found my wheat!

Bust out the Sevin

Yea,
Friday afternoon the moths were everywhere around my oat fields. 5" of rain since Thursday, will be flying on the SEVIN in the morning.

EAT MORE BEEF! CATTLE ALWAYS FOR SALE.

We started planting a little later because they killed us a few years back. Haven't had any problems since thankfully.

We had to spray last Monday. They were really starting to damage the oats.

Normally plant later myself, but the last two years later was too late in regards to enough rainfall to start a crop.

The worst armyworms are in my kleingrass and just about stripped my jiggs clean seemingly overnight.

BTW, Asana is cheaper than 80% Sevin, at least where I buy it. You need an applicator's license, though... don't know if you need one for sevin. Probably do at 80%.

Those *******s are relentless when they get hold of your grass.
