In SA:
Canyon Springs is a great course, as is River Crossing. I have also heard that River Crossing is going private soon.

In the same price range and quality as those two is Silverhorn. I haven't played there in nearly 9 months but it has always been a nice little course.

In CC:
North Shore in Portland was a dump in my opinion. With the exception of 15 (??) on the back side i thought it was a waste of my money...and I recieved half price green fees because I lived in their apartments. Greens were sh****, poor maintenance of bunkers and it just wasn't that plush.

Longwood in Cypress and Pine Forest in Bastrop, two totally different courses,Longwood has more bunkers and is flat and Pine Forest is up and down with small undulating greens. Keep it straight at Lost Pines.

When I worked in southern Ft. Worth, Southern Oaks in Burleson was a very nice links-style course and very reasonable for the price, especially when we would sneak out of work in the afternoons.

My "sneak out of work" course now is Plum Creek in Kyle (South of Austin). It has always been in good condition, and is a great course for a cheap price. But the rough is ROUGH, hahaha.

I played Blackhorse a couple months ago and was extremly impressed with the conditions. PLush fairways, soft yet quick greens, good overall layout.

BUT those *******s had no Hole marker/map at the tee box NOR a map on the scorecard. There are several holes with blind tee shots and a general idea of where you should/shouldn't hit would be helpful.

In San Antonio, I am surprised that no one has mentioned Pecan Valley. It is in my top 3---along with Pebble Beach and Pinehurst #2---as the best layouts I have ever played. I don't know what kind of shape it is in, but it looked pretty good last time I drove by.

The Club at Runaway Bay is a good track. $27.00 18 holes and cart weekdays.

The Cliffs - PK go play there aleast once. The tee shot over Hells Gate is increadable.
Turtle Hill - Muenster the front is dull, the back 9 is worth every penny ($36.00)
Sugar Tree - Brock
Canyons West - Weatherford

Aggie Vet, Hell's Gate is about 2 miles up the lake ffrom the Cliff's. The tee shot on number 9 is pretty cool, the view out over The Ranch on PK is really nice, huge homes.

GWellis, played preston trails and agree whith what you say. I have gone by the Runaway bay course may times (hunt in Graham, TX) and always wanted to try it out. One of the best Courses I ever played was in Minnesota cant remember the name for anything (black hills or something to that effect)
