OK, here's yet another Pearsall place- forgive me, I spent 2 weeks there over the holidays, and if you've ever been to Pearsall, you know that there aren't too many places to choose from. Anyway, there's a new steakhouse there called Los Cazadores...it's off of I-35 before the Divot/1581 exit. Anyway, the chicken fried steak is wonderful...regular steaks are ok, too, but we're not talking about them, are we?

Well, you can tell your wife that she does not have to call me Notafraid, Mr. Notafraid will work just fine… Actually I will be glad to introduce myself with my real name to her, and will be glad to drink a beer with some Ags, if they will have me, because I am not an Ag. I just happen to know a lot of Ags, and do have some in the family. I have no degree from any university (excluding school of hard knocks), but I might be sending my son to A&M as far as I know.

I think it would be great to meet some folks in Fairmount once we get settled in. We closed yesterday, but we're not fully moving until next Saturday and won't likely be fully settled until early February.

As far as not actually attending A&M, I have no problems with that as long as someone loves and understands the spirit and tradition of being an Aggie. My Dad never attended A&M, but he loved the school more than a lot of people I know that went to school there.

We fall all over George H. Bush and rightfully so, but he never attended A&M. I don't know why it should be any different for someone else just because they never ran the free world.

Great house! That part of the 'hood is really coming around, with restorations and new construction. I'm about 4.5 blocks south of you on Fairmount: green house, white and MAROON trim, look for the truck with the Corps sticker in the driveway ...

To bring this back around to the Outdoor forum, if there's a guy cleaning a Winchester shotgun on the front porch, just come on up anyway.

I've eaten lots of good chicken fried steak in my life...many different places in Texas. But one of the biggest and best I ever had was in the little town of Harrington, Kansas and the Harrington House Cafe. This think was huge! The steak was bigger than the plate and it was cooked perfectly!

So anyone (Fort Worth Ags) wanna meet at Massey's for a beer or two this Saturday. We have an Ag that is in town from CS that is staying with us for the weekend. I'll bet we could even get her to come...

For those of us that are a little older.. I always enjoyed Youngbloods between College Station and Bryan. They served an Aggie Special that was very good, lots of food, and, most importatn, plenty of gravy.

El Creek Cafe in Lee county has the best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten.

Well, Chewy. Sooner or later it was bound to happen. Someone is actually excited to have you in the neighborhood!

Oh well, our loss, their gain.

Cottonwood Inn in LaGrange used to be pretty good. I have no idea if it's still there.

msaggie98, I work in Pearsall. I've eaten at Los Cazadores 3 times and have yet to have a good dining experience. Ate the CFS once and it was horrible. I do not recommend it.

Well, KJN, we all are entitled to our own opinions...I agree with the service part- we went twice over the holidays and the first time, the waitress completely messed up all of our orders. My sister-in-law had chicken fried steak, though, and we all thought it was pretty good. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, though.

There's a really good CFS in Flatonia. The restaurant is just off the highway. I can't for the life of me remember the name, though.

The Bowling Alley Cafe in Blanco used to have decent CFS... and gave you two of them.

Haven't been there in a long time, it might have gone to pot or shut down. It's like a block off 281 behind the courthouse if I recall correctly.

I have eaten at several of these places. Mary's in Strawn has a great rep, but I have never been there. It has been several years, but the White House Cafe in Iraan is tops on my list. Tip Top in SA is pretty good also.
